Today we introduced USB and Bluetooth audio support for the P3. Short term, this means you'll be able to listen to game audio through headphones. Longer term... this enables a lot of really cool features.

This is great! I can't wait to try it out.

I can't believe the frequent and impressive capabilities that are being added to the platform for free.

This is something that I am extremely excited for, to help focus on the game! This will also be helpful for custom game development.

Thanks Gerry and team!

Headphone support is great for shows and locations where the cabinet speakers might be drowned out by everything else in the room, and it's great for homes when you want to play your games at high volume. Beyond that...

Bluetooth support, just like our internet connectivity, opens the door for a ton of new features and new ways of interacting with games. Also just like with internet connectivity, we're currently focused on using it in ways that enhance your playing experience. We'll work in management and reporting features along the way, but the most important thing to us is making the playing experience as fun and immersive as possible.

Awesome, great time to be a P3 owner with two huge FREE updates, internet play and USB support.

How many of you would be interested in a button box upgrade with a USB port for your headphones / thumb drives? Probably best for home use. Exposing a USB port on location is probably undesirable in most cases.

Cat not included.

Just plugged in Lexy Lightspeed to test some new software and played it with USB headphones. Holy crap - the sound in this game is amazing!

Yes, I'm a developer on the game and integrated a lot of David Thiel's sounds into software, but the cabinet speakers definitely don't do the 3D sound justice. I'd totally forgotten the sounds of everything are tied to their geographic position in the machine. Even cooler, sounds for things like the critters on the screen even follow the flying critters around the playfield!

One of my favorite parts of the sound package - and it's evident right from the opening movie when the saucer takes damage!

David Thiel did an amazing job (as usual). The capabilities of the P3/Unity really let his work shine.

I've gotta try this - I'm enjoying Heist a lot at the moment. Lucky the playfield swap is so quick I can insert Lexy, play a few games, marvel at the sound quality for a bit and then back to Heist

Heist has really impressive sound too, especially the music by Jonas Hornqvist. LL-EE's unique in that it has a lot of 3D and moving sounds because of the moving elements on the LCD lower playfield.

Is there potential in doing a Dolby Digital surround sound mix, delivered over USB?

(What I'm really saying is that I want to drag the P3 at work into the middle of the home theatre and crank it up! ...the joys of working in a home entertainment showroom)
