Taking my 2nd trip to the USA but this time only for 2weeks fly into LA on the 5th Nov 2011 till the 20th Nov 2011.

Will stay in LA for 5 days before a short roadtrip not sure where to yet any great pinball locations with a massive selection of machines that i could get to?

    Any help/ideas would be grand,

    Thanks.

Well, the obvious choice is a road trip to Las Vegas to the Pinball Hall of Fame:

You bringing the entire family or just yourself? You should try to hook up with some fellow Pinsiders for a evening of pinball and pizza, just a thought...

You could head up the coast of California to Norther California hit up the Pacific Pinball Museum:
    http://pacificpinball.org/collections/currently-on-site
Another spot in the SF Bay Area with a good amount of pins is Playland Not At The Beach:
    http://www.playland-not-at-the-beach.org/pinball_arcade_00.htm

Also, if your looking for many spots to play pinball I know Oregon has a ton as can be seen here on Pinside:

Santa Cruz would be before you hit the rest it is further south has some pinballs as well:

It would be a nice road trip for you as well going along the California coast on 101. Northern California is a great location to visit with SF, Napa, Monterrey, Santa Cruz all close together. Although the temperature will be a little cooler up north compared to the LA area. Best spots in California in my opinion are the San Francisco Bay Area and San Diego. I am not a huge fan of the LA area mostly because of the non-stop traffic and smog found there. The nicest locations in the LA area are Huntington Beach or Santa Monica in my opinion although, I'm not sure they have many pins in those spots though. Hope you have a great trip!!!

Portland Oregon has a ton of pins and one of the best classic arcades around - Ground Kontrol. GK has over 90 classic arcade games and 25+ pins. Check them out at http://www.groundkontrol.com.

if you come down to San Diego, there's not many places to play Pinball, but it is consider America's Finest City. you will enjoy it! There are a few places with one or two pinball machines, but that's about it.

If you go to San Diego, go to Nickel City. They have a LW3, TSPP, Avatar, Tron, Indiana Jones(Stern), and Close Encounters.

If you're going to LA you really need to stop in at Pins & Needles.
Hey, wait a minute! Doesn't our Pinside Pinball Map have Los Angeles on it?

    #15 12 years ago

Pins and Needles would be the place to go in LA. They have around 30 games, mostly a mix of 80s and newer. Very experienced techs. Check their hours. They may not be open all the time.

No, Molly usually opens the place in the evening around 8ish, sometimes earlier if it's a tourney night. And Molly is an ace tech, but what would you expect from KME's fiancee?
