I've had no problems with the magnets out. I've never had anything rejected incorrectly with the magnets out, non quarters are rejected as expected. The quarter mechs take both w/o issue in my machines.
best option, have the correct mechs. Next best, make the mechs you have work. Third best is buy a new one.
