    American coins are non magnetic. Think that some coin mechs are designed to allow for the removal of the magnet in the coin mechanism, allowing the Canadian coins to fall through.

    Since 2000 Canadian Dimes are lighter in weight. Does the random rejection only occur with the thinner lighter coin?
