I would suggest flying to Las Vegas with a stopover in New York for a few days. Good pinball but expensive hotels. Fly nonstop cheap to Las Vegas. Rent a cheap car (maybe splurge for satellite radio) in Vegas with unlimited mileage--some allow crossing into Canada-- and stay on the mid-Strip for a few days. Pinball Hall of Fame early each day and great shows/cheap drinks/amazement at buildings and women/ and even gambling later in day. Then East to Bryce and Zion parks. Catch Grand Canyon on the way to California (and don't miss Yosemite park.) I defer to left coasters as to what to do next. You will have seen our best parks and pinball machines already. You can turn in your car at a different location for a small fee. Catch New Orleans (my favorite) or Orlando or Washington or Chicago (ground zero for pinball) for a few days before departure. Then remember the USA for what we do best and not for our other misdoings.
