    To each his own I suppose. I'm an engineer (40+ years) and enjoy the
    challenge of fixing the original electronics. Have been successful so far
    thanks to a well stocked junk box of scrap boards others would not
    bother fixing.

    For me, originality is important.

    However recently picked up a LOST WORLD (dead) that some previous
    owner had updated with a new CPU board and set of LED displays.
    Works just fine after a bit of work and gotta admit having a full set of bright displays
    is nice.
