I purchased an upgraded Williams System 3 CPU for my Lucky Seven from another pinsider. Board works and is very clean. He was nice enough to upgrade the board and put newer version Roms. My issue is that the game doesn't boot with just the 3 newer Roms in IC20, IC17 and IC14. To my knowledge it should work like that, right? I get a solid LED on the bottom. ROM/Prom failure. I went out on a limb while trying to figure this out and added the 2 old proms (IC22, IC21) from my original non-working board. The game went through diagnostics and I was able to start a game. Any ideas what I may be missing? // Error: Image 462643 not found //// Error: Image 462644 not found //

For system 3 to utilize IC14, there's also a trace cut and jumper that needs to be done in order to properly modify the chip select circuit. Any evidence of this being done? Your photos don't show that area, so I can't confirm.

It looks like the trace has been cut and the jumper has been done. Looks like its been done correctly. Seems like the chip at IC14 is not recognized.

ROMS that came with board don't seem to work, so I'm simply using my old game ROMS in the updated board. This will work fine for the time being. I hope to pick up new set of game ROMS soon.

When the wms system 3 mpu has the jumper / cut shown in the picture above, only a 2716 EPROM will work at IC14 as the game ROM which is ideal over using multiple masked game ROMs.

That wire used to make the jumper is too large, use a thinner gauge wire. It is best to desolder the via and the pin on the IC used when doing this so you can mechanically thread them through.
