With all of the issues Stern has had with the autoplunger, especially with Avengers, it looks like they've done a redesign for Star Trek. I wonder is this will carry over to the new titles, or if this is a one off for Star Trek. It seems considerably more stable with the pin extending the full width of the plunger vs the previous design where the forks hang off the side of the pin.

Here is the previous design from METLE.

And here is the one in STLE.

I don't know what the old ones look like as I have never owned one, but I noticed that this design is nearly identical to the Gottlieb auto plunger they used on Stargate and Big Hurt.

The old one is in the top picture. Trying to get it properly aligned can be time consuming. It was especially a problem in Avengers and seems there are some issues recently with AC/DC needing adjustments. It is a very different design from their recent releases.

I've somewhere in a thread that the "new" luci has a different one compared to ST/LE. And that the STLE looked cheaper. How that fits into the equation I don't know.

Since Luci is based on an older playfield and the bracket appears to have a different mounting pattern, I don't know what that indicates about new games. The metal is thinner, but it forms a complete box which helps to stabilize it. With the mounting pin going the full width of the plunger it seems to have less rotation and side to side movement.

Nevertheless I experience less power off the plunger after ~500 games. Anyone else sharing this experience? And has a workaround perhaps?

Our Star Trek autoplunger just started getting weaker today. One game got so bad it took it four tries just to get the ball out of the shooter lane, much less all the way around.
What have you guys been checking on first for this problem
I did not have time to open it up and look yet.

Well I did 2 thinks that solved my problem:
I used WD40 to grease the plunger a little bit
AND
I cleaned the balls with a microfiber cloth
