I've wondered about the white paint on the light boards for a long time. The light boards only real purpose is to hold the light sockets and it's always covered by the translite under normal operation so why did they (B/W) paint them white at all? Seems like an unnecessary extra cost for paint and labor.
Does the white paint reflect more light and thus enhance the total amount of translite brightness? What am I missing here.
I doubt they painted them white just to look nice for the pin repair man
I definitely think it's to reflect the light better , maybe avoid "hot spots"
Side not but current enjoying some of Gmans work right now and kinda enjoying the fresh incasdecent lamps over LEDs
Def polish away !
I think he may over do it for the radcals but better to do too good of a job that not good enough !

Quoted from Boat:This is honestly great work and a great reference for anyone starting our or intermediates looking to tackle a restore job.
In the spirit of restoring and protecting the game with cabinet art protectors, have you looked into comet retro leds? I noticed you still use incandescent bulbs. Leds would last longer, have less heat to reduce risk to plastics, wood, and also the boards
The only downside I would see is that you wouldn’t get the classic fade of old bulbs
The fade is critical IMO .. LED/GI OCD a must if you go LED.
