Quoted from NeilMcRae:

got any install pics?

Kim does. Ill get him to post. Was pretty easy. Just take the speaker off and pop in the 3d printed frame. Ties to a 12v empty port in the backbox.

Quoted from Edenecho:

My ball often gets stuck here after shooting the bullseye on premium and it bounces into this gap. Any protector something that exist?[quoted image]

After saying I hadn't had that problem on the route I help with, we promptly had this happen two times in the past week. Because of the movement of the sarcophagus next to it, it really jams the ball in there so you can't even shake it loose. I used a scrap piece of PETG I had around and a small post and made a standoff that solves this issue.

Here's the factory look with no standoff:
step-0 (resized).jpgstep-0 (resized).jpg

I used an 11/32" standoff in the back and a 5/8" standoff in the front so the plastic is sloped slightly down (mouser bags with part numbers for your reference):
standoffs (resized).jpgstandoffs (resized).jpg
step-1 (resized).jpgstep-1 (resized).jpg

On the back of the plastic I put the mini post and a 27/64" rubber to help bounce balls that might try to get up there away:
step2 (resized).jpgstep2 (resized).jpg

However, if they DO get up there, they now roll off, or into the sarcophagus or over the sarcophagus - no more stuck balls.

And here's an actual size 300dpi scan of the lower plastic you can use as a template to make the upper plastic:

Quoted from Maken:

Stern, via Chas, says that my playfield "meets our quality standards" and will not be replaced. No options were provided and no tips were given on how to level a warped playfield.
Wow... I am seriously at a loss here, everyone thought that they would give me a non-warped playfield... I am just haggard.

You have to prove that it's warped with a straight edge on the playfield showing a gap. Speaking from experience, what you showed isn't enough to do that. Also, you should contact Player One and have them involved. Don't try to deal with Stern directly or you will be turned away like you have.

Just joined the club, better late than never. Picked up a Refinery edition Pro at TPF. Can't stop playing. ZombeiYeti killed the artwork on this game and Keith nailed the flow. Already ordered some pinstadiums and pin monk's color insert covers. Now I just need to make my way through this thread and get caught up.

I think the red flake is the best look for powdercoated armor on these. Really looks sharp.

Quoted from RGAires:

Almost Finished...
Need 2 ou 3 more Spotlights, Red rubber posts, and some Yellow TrueColor Plastic Protectors.
One of the best Stern Machines ive played in the last years.

Isn’t this going to interfere with ball movement?

No my friend,
the ball travels very nice and is a good visual effect because the ball hit the chains

#4208 5 years ago
Quoted from dsuperbee:

Those are like gold, and I do have an extra, but I'm worried it's so close to the flipper it will break in short order.
I'm more than willing to drill my pf to make the prem. version work. Just need a premium and or Le manual to see the part numbers to order

I think this would fit just fine

Quoted from RockfordReplay:

Another light package popped up yesterday on Straight Down The Middle. Different supplier, but looks interesting.

I have these on my Pro... they are fantastic! Strongly recommend adding these. I've had Doug's speaker lights on all my games, and this new version takes things up a notch for sure!

Where are you getting them? Speakerlightkits says their "deluxe spike 2" system isn't available for purchase yet?

#4211 5 years ago

yeah saw them at TPF but I don't like the square I want the round lights.

Maken still waiting for you to create your own thread regarding your issues and stern's response. Just making sure you are going through with that. Stern needs to be held accountable for the product they sold you, as well I'd like to hear more about your distributor and what they are doing to help you, that's pretty much their job - what else are they doing for your money other than sending a PO to stern?

#4215 5 years ago

PinGraffix Power Blades installed and of course Pin Monks Required colour upgrades - just need the 3D Anubis

Thanks! I have them on my Metallica also and think they look great! It’s a much simpler install on Spike than it was on SAM... took < 5 minutes.

Was just curious how they install. This is my 1st new Stern, and haven't put on any mods, yet. Have the art blades and lighted flipper buttons on the way, and was gonna do these hinge covers next

Still attempting to escalate at Stern and with distro. It's hard, nobody gets back to me, they all just hope that I will go away. Going away is what I'd love to do more than anything, but my love of pinball is proving stronger than I had imagined.

Waiting on a price for an unpopulated playfield.

DON'T give up whatever you do. They HAVE to take care of this eventually. Well, they better

Have you been emailing or phone?
I was largely ignored about my Metallica issues until I got someone on the phone.

Yes. Best $100 you'll spend on Iron Maiden.

Really? Serious question. I’ve never bought a shaker, so curious to know.

Back to PF warping - if you lay a long ruler flat on a certain angle on the PF to show a gap between it and the PF in the middle?

It has a number of nice effects like shaking the machine when the tomb scrapes open. Overall it has a good integration of the shaker effects into the gameplay.

OK - I have one on TWD and it's suits that pin
just was not sure about it in this pin
didn't want to plop one in every pin just for the sake of it

Well, after the mode tree

Also, the pop plastics look great

Honourable mention to the Stern side blades. Very well done

Yeah the Stern blades are very nicely integrated into the playfield theme. Much better than Deadpool's art blades.

I hope we see some nice castle blades for BK3

I think it is the most vital mod. When you have Trooper going and are trying to concentrate the shaker alerting you that your last shot was good is invaluable.

If you install a shaker you'll need to loosen up the tilt. Tight tilts and shakers are not a good combination.

#4235 5 years ago

Mine came with the Stern shaker.... meh. I put it in my SW. I have the red tremor shakers in 2 other pins, now those are nice.

My Stern blades just showed up today. Hope to install them this weekend. Do they need to be almost completely flat, or can they be installed a bit wavy? I've only done mirror blades, so this is new to me.

If it were me , I'd like them flat before install. Less chance of air bubbles and easier install. Wet method is much more forgiving as well.

#4238 5 years ago

They will be fine as is. I got mine on very fast and easy by having a second person do the front while I lined up the back.

Did you do yours dry or wet? I'm doing these by myself

#4240 5 years ago

The waviness will mostly be in the backing paper but I still lay mine out for a few days first. Straighter is easier to manage.

I despise the Red Tremor shakers. They're unpleasant jackhammer-like shaking.

Wet install with soapy water and a squeegee/wallpaper tool to smooth them out and get rid of the excess liquid and you're golden. No need to wait for them to relax.

Appreciate all the input everyone. Sure I'll be fine per usual. I'll flatten them til tomorrow just because.

Ok, another question for anyone that's installed the BriteButtons Flipper lights from PBL. Got those too today, and I'm not sure which "ticket" header connection I'm suppose to use on the coin door interface board in the the top left corner, the one on the left or right? Hate to use the wrong one and bleep it up. Sorry for the duplicate pic

Dont do anything until someone else confirms this but I would imagine it has to go on the right based on the pins wired

Has anyone figured out a way to deaden the knocking sound from the upper right flipper? I know it was mentioned earlier in this thread, but now it's 85 pages long! It's driving me crazy.

Longer return spring (to slow the return), or stretch out the one you have. Or, put deadening foam on teh backside of the bracket where the coil arm snaps back to rest so the sound is deadened.

Joined the club! Purchased mine from PinMonk and it came with all his mods already installed!!! I love the gel inserts, it makes a big difference on the appearance of the PF.

I’ll have to pickup the shaker!
