1.06 released.

From the notes:
- Removed unused obsolete Standard Adjustments:
- "FLASH LAMP POWER"
- "COIL PULSE POWER"
- "BILL VALIDATOR"
- "TEAM SCORES"
- "CONSOLATION BALL".

Oh man! Coil pulse power actually never did anything? I guess going from low->high and it feeling different was just in my head.

I've never updated a Stern before. JJ has full installs and update installs. Does Stern do the same? If so which is this?

Stern is not the same. Just grab the code. Copy to USB. Plug in. Turn on. Sit down. Hold on. Enjoy.

Sooo...1.06 is not really needed, right? Doesnt seem to change anything but stuff I would have never touched any ways.

Nevermind...read me says more.

- Attract Mode - added Legacy of the Beast 2019 tour dates
- Revive - 'advance revive' is now lit when you don't have both outlane saves lit
- Eddie Letters - fixed an issue where EDDIE letters could be lost between first ball and second ball in a multiplayer game
- Drop Targets - progress towards 'light lock' is restored if it was skipped because trooper locks could not be lit from other running modes
- Flight of Icarus - changed starting award to 2M and increment by 150K (was starting at 1M and increment by 250K)
- Eddie Cards - collecting level 1 - boosts power jackpot 5M
- Eddie Cards - collecting Level 2 - boosts power jackpot 15M
- Eddie Cards - collecting Level 2 - now shows display effect with current EDDIE card status (used to just be a callout)
- Two Minutes to Midnight - intro now displays all shot awards and their values in a sorted list
- Can I Play with Madness - defaults to off in competition mode
- Timed Battle Modes - "Add Time" Mystery award is not available anymore in grace (it will choose a different eligible mystery award)
- Loop Jackpots - added new flasher lamp effect when awarded
- Soul Shard - added new background / collected lamp effects
- Danger / Tilt - graphics now updated to use nuke console / mushroom cloud videos
- Audits - fixed Rime of the Ancient Mariner audits that were not chalking properly
- Audits - fixed left / right drains in system audits

- Adjustment Changes:
- added 'LIMIT RIGHT UP POST USE' - defaults to YES, which will not raise the Right Up Post for mode starts, change to NO to revert to old behavior
- added 'TOUR DATES IN ATTRACT MODE' - defaults to YES
- moved 'PLAY ATTRACT TUTORIAL VIDEOS' from GAME to STANDARD adjustment menus

- System - Updated to V2.19
- Update to nodeboard firmware v0.28.0

- Added LIFETIME count to Standard Audit #16 "Total Plays".

- Added JAPAN_3 Coinage 1/YEN 200.

- Added new standard adjustment "PLAY ATTRACT TUTORIAL VIDEOS" which is default to YES.

- Added attract mode tutorial videos for inserting coins, pressing start button,
using ball plunger, and flipper buttons.

- Added UTIL->VOL adjustments for minimum and maximum master volume level and minimum
and maximum headphones volume level. This will limit the selectable volume range
from the service menu Plus and Minus keys and the headphones rotary dial.

- Added support for 6th coin switch.

- When entering UTIL->VOL, the first sub-menu adjustment is selected, previous
behavior would select the last displayed sub-menu adjustment.

- Added Standard Adjustment "START GAME ON CREDIT". Settings are:
- "OFF" - Do not automatically start a game or add a player when inserted
money registers a credit
- "FIRST ONLY" - Automatically start a game when inserted money registers
a credit
- "ALL CREDITS" - Automatically start a game or add a player when inserted
money registers a credit. Adding multiple credits
simultaneously, via a bill acceptor, will only start
a one player game or add a single player.
Default setting is "OFF"

I agree that I don't see a lot in the 1.06 update that really seems to be a major game changer unless I'm missing something in the notes...

I think the scoring refinements and such actually will have a large impact on high scores and such.

Also the underlying system firmware upgrade once again totally revampts the Util-Vol settings and my LE the sounds a lot better on default settings than it ever did previously. I still had to tweak a few things but overall the sound quality has improved noticeably I'd say. If you've been concerned with poor sound quality I'd definately recommend the update.

Agreed. Just played two games on our LE after update. Game sounds better for sure. Nothing much else noticeable.

I'm pretty sure the update code is just hardcoded to show those two languages since the language settings are lost during the update (like all settings).

"Updating..." is the English.

Well, bummer--I guess I'll have to lose my high score again, but a sound upgrade will be worth it. Care to post your new sound settings?

Still playing around with it but on my LE with Polk 10" powered sub underneath I think I'm using:

- Backbox Treble boost = +1.5db (default was +3db I think). Default sound was a little too crisp for my tastes.
- Cabinet Bass boost =Max (+11.75db?) (default was +6db I think). Trying to get more oomph out of the cab speaker and powered sub below. Even though it's cranked in most songs the bass is really clean and not boomy.

Oh and Music Attenuation = -15 and Speech Attenuation = +2.

Of course YMMV and factors such as room size, materials, etc. will have a large impact on the sound so tune to your own liking! Right out of the box default was really quite decent as well, minus the Music being way too in the background for a music pin (hence the Music Attentuation setting).

“Full” is a complete software update. and “quick” is a add-on update.

I always do a Full update now, after having issues with the add-on...the Full takes longer, but it is the best way IMHO.

As I am away at the moment new code test is not possible for me.
Have to say thanks to audio team for looking and tweaking the mixing.
If the raspy mids are gone I will be stoked
IMDN for me is best game of all time.

Full update to version 1.06, tweaked the audio settings along the lines of bigdaddy07's suggestions: game sounding and playing great. I was a bit sad the update would wipe out my 501m GC score, however I promptly played a 500m GC game, including my first Mummy card (now that I know the trick for lighting the mummy jackpot by ripping the spinner) during a 3x play field . Damn, I love this game.

Yeah, so hit the spinner, then hit the captive ball, and rinse/repeat until you spell Mummy then hit center ramp for jackpot and get the card?

Originally I thought it was hitting the ramps, then ramps and orbits, because.....that is what is lit on the game. That is just for adding a ball.

The FOI change is significant for mediocre players. The light locks change will also have significant impact.

Can anyone confirm on new code, top right up post doesn’t go up to stop balls on aces high and ROTAM anymore? Works for trooper still and other parts of the game, just not these modes. New feature or bug?

Yes, I can confirm that for both of them, noticed it last night. It's not listed as a "feature" in the release notes so my guess is a bug.

I had to make some changes to my settings since the upgrade to 1.06, as the sound was off with my old settings. This is with FF 10" kit.
Master Volume – 42
Balance – -3
Backbox – 8ohm
Backbox bass freq – 125hz
Backbox bass gain - 1.5db
Backbox treble freq – 4khz
Backbox treble gain - +3db
Cabinet speaker type – 8ohm
Cabinet bass freq – disabled

Why are you guys disabling the bass frequency. I did that and all the base disappeared.

I originally worked with Michael Pupo to get the core settings, based on his suggestions, and then tweaked them from there. I believe that was his suggestion, as I'm not an audio guy by any stretch. I have tons of bass coming from mine. A couple of my favorite things on the game are hearing the death blows and the tomb opening, because of the bass.

Trying out bigdaddy07 's audio settings. As soon as I adjust the balance to negative (anything below 0) the backbox speakers completely shut off and all I hear is the cabinet speaker. Is this a bug with the new 1.06 code? I don't recall it doing this before.

That's strange. What do you have for speakers? Are they upgraded or stock?

My thought is what works with FF speakers might not work with the stock speakers--as FF's have a different crossover (I'm pretty sure).

It's pretty sweet at the start of Aces High that the 2nd ball comes screaming out of the right orbit.

Yeah the FF kit I have has a built-in low pass crossover in the cabinet speaker (it's treated as a sub).

It appears neither up post traps the ball for aces high now even when you turn setting #65 off. Can anyone confirm? Don’t know how I feel about that now that my auto plunger works 100% lol

Yes, post 3585. I think it's just a glitch in the menu. After I exit out of the menu with those settings and start a game it works fine.

Do you Premium owners wish you bought a Pro instead?

I keep reading in other threads the Premium/LE mechs are guaranteed problematic.

Seems like Pro is the way to go unless I want to tinker more than play?
