Quoted from Kkoss24:

Thanks for the advice .Yes ,it kept slipping during every game .I even purchased a new flipper set and replaced everything and was still doing it so I roughed up the shaft .It’s working great now ,but I will order a new flipper when my list builds up .I think the flipper shafts should have a textured area where it’s clamped .Not understanding the smooth on smooth theory .

Roughing up the shaft does keep it from slipping…at least that’s what she said

Quoted from Jason_Jehosaphat:

Wow, you aren't kidding! That's a LOT of Eddies! The lower right Eddie is, well, rather bizarre. Is he a heap of flesh after being blown up? It's confusing. You get high marks for rigging them. I know from experience that it takes some effort to secure a foreign object to a playfield. Looks great!

Thanks! Yes there was quite a bit of cutting, bending, drilling, heating, and cussing involved. The one down by the sling isn’t Eddie, it’s the other cyborg that Eddie has destroyed. You can see that same arm on the Somewhere In Time album cover and in the right outlane on the playfield. It came with the Cyborg Eddie and seemed a shame to waste it so I found a spot. I’m actually not 100% sold on that one and may yet take it out, but I really like how the rest came out.

Quoted from gearhead:

Oh! Of course! I should have guessed. I forget that playfield elements can "interact" with each other, depending on how you pose them. Good work!

Quoted from gearhead:

Fair enough. I'm curious: what did the Cyborg Eddie cost? He seems fairly large and detailed. The stock one on the Premium is busy shooting with *both* guns blazing, and I'm not sure if that's very Eddie-like. Honestly, I was thinking of taking him out so I could mount a scale Spitfire in this place, but I probably won't.

Quoted from alto:

What is the idle power draw of the game by the way? Do you guys generally shut down your game(s) overnight etc?

I, too, think about wasted electricity if my pin is on and idle. I don't like to shut if off and then turn it back on several times a night, so I'm in the habit of simply opening the coindoor when the game is idle. This kills all the power to the playfield, including the lighting. The backbox remains lit, but I have mine set to just 10% for gameplay, service, and attract modes because any more than that just creates glare on the glass. The fan in the power supply does cycle on and off, but I assume the overall power consumption is a good deal less than simply leaving the game blinking away in attract mode. However, I most certainly do shut my game completely off if it won't be used for an hour or more. If I ever leave it on overnight, I will discover it the following morning, feel instantly guilty about forgetting to shut it off the night before, and immediately shut it off to cool down and rest.

It's too costly to manufacture a bat with a dual-texture shaft. The portion of the shaft that sits in the bushing must be smooth, so the rest of the shaft must also be smooth. If you do abrade the shaft, I would note exactly how much of it sits in the crank and abrade that portion only. If you abrade the part that sits in the bushing, the bushing will wear out and become sloppy sooner. The Stern crank is nicer than a B/W crank because it's cast and not stamped. It's beefier, although B/W cranks seem to hold bat shafts just fine anyway. The Stern crank uses a hex-head cap screw that is small'ish and not hard to strip if you don't load your hex wrench into it just so. I always have a few extras on hand, as it's also possible to break them if you overtorque them. They are 10-32 x 3/4 hardened steel or stainless hex-head cap screws. The B/W pitch bolt for its crank uses a 3/8" Ny-Lock nut because the crank itself is not threaded, which is harder to strip and thus more practical than the cap screw.

Quoted from gearhead:

I believe it! I find that I get so excited about personalizing my games that I buy this or that trinket for the playfield but then, when I hold it here and there and imagine if it really "belongs," the answer is more often, no. For example, I have second scale plane that I want to add to my playfield as part of a dogfight diorama, but each time I rig it, I find it blocks my view of shot paths and I really do NOT like my sight lines blocked. The planes are 1:72 scale replicas. Each has a wingspan of about seven inches. Not huge, but big enough to be in the way.

Thanks ,I grabbed a bunch of those hex screws already from the hardware store .Yeah I only roughed up the portion of the shaft that is under the playfield .It’s holding great so far ,but still will have a whole setup here soon for when the time comes although I’m giving thought to precision flippers .We’ll see .

I’m glad you have your uber-modded Premium back online. Love the blue trim and alternate translite.

I just measured this IM Premium and it consumes 70W in attract mode. With a presumed kWh cost of $0.15, that's $0.25 per day.

Open the coin door and it drops to 40W. That's $0.14 per day.

The Cyborg Eddie is made by NECA (as are the others) and long sold out. I believe it came out in 2005. They're fairly common on Ebay but new in package examples go for $200 and up. If you're patient you can find one that's been opened for way less.

Assistance: Diverter not going all the way up. I have a brand new machine and a diverter on the left ramp after 200 plays is not going all the way up to allow the ball to go into the sarcophagus lock. The light on the left lamp is blinking if that means anything.
Any fixes or suggestions would be welcome. See the pic below thank you in advance.

Go into test mode. When it stops going up, on the test screen does it say it's at the top?

If it DOESN'T that means it's binding on something and you need to figure out what's physically stopping it.

If it DOES, that just means you need to adjust the switch arm on the backboard that tells the machine where the mechanism is so the switch arm activates a little later, allowing the mech to rise up a little higher. It could also be that the switch body has just come loose and needs to be re-mounted on the bracket properly.

The switches are highlighted in green. One tells the machine when the mech is at the top, one when it's at the bottom.

Hey there - I'm a new owner too, and this was the first of 4 problems I've encountered with the machine.

Try this. Pull the playfield out a little bit and do the diverter test (#66 and #67, I believe) - if it works, you might have the same problem I had. The guardian on mine was not going up all the way as the ears were getting blocked by the wood inside the bottom of the backbox. We did a very slight bend at the bottom of the guardian and loosened the screws to see if we can set him a little lower and he has been clearing it ever since. If it's not that, I'll let more experienced owners help you.

Is this cool or too much??? (Sorry for the wonky right-side LED ring; I've got a new PCB on the way that changes the ordering to be counterclockwise which will make the two sides symmetrical.)

Anyway, thought I'd share. Not sure where this is going if anywhere!

Sinistarrett - I'm sure this has been done before so I can't take credit. It was just something that dawned on me Sunday, so I had to try it.

Our new LED Hub will enable all sorts of extracurricular stuff like this. This was literally a 10-minute project.

Jamesays let the good times roll!

PW won't offer this broadly since we are partnering with another prominent MOD'er for the outside of the machine lighting. However, if they choose to offer it, it will be compatible with our stuff, using our hub and wiring solutions. More on that later on.

Hey Matt! Long time!

Definitely too much for me. I actually love how dark Iron Maiden is - fits the theme of the game and I have the backbox down to 25% during a game to minimize glare (will probably pick up some invisiglass at some point). But I'm sure, as seen above, some will dig it for sure.

Thanks for the feedback 11strings ! I thought it was too much for me too at first but everyone here likes it so we'll probably keep it. it's growing on me. I think it will be a love / hate thing and not much in between, but I changed my mind after seeing it.

lol, same with the guy who made the first post about the precision flippers. Turns out they actually are very good and the guy was an engineer which is why his review was strangely in-depth and sounded like marketing.

LOL! At least out of all of the pins out there this one might be the most appropriate for a field goal kick with the big ramp shot up the middle.

I feel particularly stupid looking at that item, how are you supposed to use it? Is it supposed to raise the slingshot plastics to protect them, or...?

Slingshots break at the upper and lower corner. Stern often includes large metal washers which protects the corners. The plastic washer is an upgrade since light can pass through it and it gives the same protection. You can also add it to any old game to protect the sling and its cheaper than a $15 set of sling protectors for example.

My Favorite IMDN Shots, In Ascending Order:

17. Schatz target (never hit it deliberately, frankly)
16. Lower Newton ball
15. Super Jackpot target (from upper flipper)
14. Extra-Ball target
13. Drop targets
12. Add-Time targets
11. Upper Newton ball
10. Underworld scoop
9. Left orbit
8. Bullseye target
7. Upper loop
6. Right ramp
5. Right orbit
4. Left ramp
3. Pharaoh’s Tomb
2. Main loop
1. Left (“Revive”) spinner

What are your favorites?

What are your favorites?

The loop from the right upper flipper feels amazing when you hit it more than once in a row.

Hitting the mummy multi ball into trooper multiball feels great.

But the best feeling ever is hitting both spinners during Fear of the Dark mode. I literally jumped and shouted out loud when I hit it and the light/sound show is a major dopamine rush.

#14393 69 days ago
Quoted from Anony:

I assume the only way to do this is to shoot the left orbit and let the ball roll through the right orbit all the way to your right flipper, then flip immediately to the left spinner.
My question is, do you live catch first or just swing at it?
I have only got the two spinners going simultaneously during FOTD once.

#14394 69 days ago

I agree with the guy above .Recently I nailed the left spinner then it floated to the right flipper where I nailed the other spinner .Just solo shots it’s still the Revive spinner .Elwin’s bottom left in pins are where it’s at .SJP from the upper left is pretty darn cool also .Left ramp thru the pops/ Pharos Tomb are right up there .I fist pump in the air every time I nail PT .

#14395 69 days ago

I forgot another top one .SJP during Trooper MB from the bottom left flipper thru traffic

I've only pulled it off once and I don't actually remember if I hit the left or the right spinner first. I do remember it happened really quickly though, I didn't have time to catch the ball I just blasted it after hitting the first spinner and sort of fluked the shot on the second.

I think you're right though, it should be a lot easier to do the right spinner first since going to the revive spinner introduces the pop bumpers which randomizes how long it's going to take to come back down and where it's going to fall.

These are “moments” and combos.
I was ranking the shots in and of themselves. Like, imagine hitting them, one after another, with the sound turned off.
How fun are they simply to hit?

Ah ok... in that case I think the loop from the upper right flipper takes the cake since it feels so good to nail more than once and the speed you can get on the ball is pretty impressive.

I agree the revive spinner feels great too though and the fact that it gives you ball save makes it feel even better when you nail it.

#14400 69 days ago
Quoted from Kkoss24:

I’m really close to going that route .At least for this one to start .I’ve heard nothing but good things about them .

I just put Precision flippers in my IMDN, GZ, TS4, JP and Indy. Love 'em a lot. I think I have to turn down the power on my right flipper in JP because the ball keeps bouncing off my Lior T-rex's mouth.
