The Stern Spike 2 Headphone kit will work on Iron Maiden right? I don't see any differences between IMDN and the last few Stern games (Batman 66, Star Wars, etc), and it works on those, so should be fine, right?

It is Spike 2 so yeah

So today the song chose itself, then flippers were scoring points. Then points just started adding on their own. Checked leaf switches, they all seem fine. Any ideas?

Sorry Glenn. Somebody smarter than me will chime in, but maybe give this guy a ring in the meantime!

I'd check the leaf switches under both the captive ball and orb shots. May be set too sensitive?

Time to call The Wolf. He solves problems.

Did you go through the switch menu? On mine the large target on the backboard was way too close and would occasionally score on flips. Luckily it showed up on the switch menu.

Also make sure your spinners are returning to a normal resting position. Don't know if that's as big an issue with enclosed switches but something to check.

Go into switch test and shake the machine. You will figure it out quick.

Thanks for the responses guys. Working on it.

Anyone who pre-ordered a Premium get an update from their distributer yet? Stern posted that the games are on the factory line right now. Wondering when I can expect mine.

Edit: I asked my distributer yesterday but he didn't know dates yet.

It's the correct kit, installed it this week.

Interesting note: It looks at the impedance of what's connected and if you try using it as a line-out it will switch back to the cab speakers. I was able to trick it with a Y splitter connected to a pair of headphones.

#971 5 years ago

Haha! That bike is b'dass!!!
Good news--adjusted that orb leaf and captive ball switches out slightly and that *seems* to have worked. Since Pinball is Great is here tonight I really appreciate the help guys. We're crankin on this bitch!

What do you mean by use it as a line out? Like to external speakers or a sub? Or to headphones?

Line-out as in connection to an amp, I hooked it up to a PC for a stream with direct audio capture.

Pop up the field, and check/adjust the clairvoyant ball mechanism.. The post on the bottom needs to be centered in the plastic cup, and adjust that leaf spring.. This is exactly what was happening on mine.. Should also check the captive ball / sarcophagus mechanism while at it..

I had the same issue mine was the mummy captive ball. When switching songs it would trigger, score points and launch the ball. Adjust the captive ball and all was good. These new captive balls are set up similar to a pop-bumper switch and are very sensitive.

#976 5 years ago

Who's having success getting the mummy card? What's your strategy?

I feel like in .93 you got an add a ball for just the left ramp and in .97 you need both ramps, right? Is there a second add a ball for doing it again?

Quoted from Cserold:

Who is going to be the first manufacturer to put pinstadium like lights on a game?

I have thought the same thing. I would be surprised if they haven't already been playing around with this in the wood shop. They could route a channel right into the sides of the cabinet for the led strips. You wouldn't have to move the strips around if you need to lift the playfield. I could absolutely see Stern or JJP reserving this for their upper models as well. This would in turn piss off JJP standard or Stern Pro customers like myself. It would however preserve more market share for Pinstadium...or all the cabinets would get routed out for the strips and the manufacturers would sell them as a mod for the base models. There are a lot of games in the world up to this point and this should offer tons of potential customers to Pinstadium. They have a great product and fantastic customer service.

Also a note with this issue. My suggestion is go into switch test, use the flippers and take video with your phone while testing (record the switch test). The phantom switch hit will show up VERY fast. Watch the video and scrub through slowly to see what switch is registering. usually this will be Mummy Captive or Clairvoyant Captive. Adjust switch and you should be good to go and ready to select songs again.

Hope that helps

Sorry if this isn’t allowed but I posted this in an Le forum but it seems this post for Maiden is much larger and active so here it is.

“Got my game today! Number 396! Been playing all day and just drained out with both 2 minutes to midnight and cyborg on the table ***

I was hoping you all could help me. Are there times when hitting the mummy ball isn’t going to give you a letter? I have times outside of when it’s already all lit and I need to shoot the left ramp that the ball registers but doesn’t give me a letter.... is that normal? I’ve looked under the pf and adjusted the switch so it’s closer and it triggers normally 90% of the time but it appears to dislike pure direct shots and then sometimes when the ramp is up and a mode is ready, I can hit the mummy ball and it will strike it solid but not give me a letter, it will give like 1k points but no letter.

Please advise! Lol

Well, if they ended up being put in factory that would save me a ton of money as I certainly wouldn't be a buyer. If people want to make their games even brighter, fine, but don't force it on us

So I reached cyborg MB for the first time last night - cracked 350m or something. Awesome mode.

Question - I noticed that gave me the cyborg icon on the PF. Is it correct to say that I would need to get all those yellow triangles again and then I get to play the other MBs for the other eddie icons and then if I do all of that (which is basically impossible for me) you get the true wizard? So 4 eddie MBs then wizard? That is a crazy amount of play - can't believe someone can accomplish that on 3 balls!

#988 5 years ago

There are times where you think it isn't, because you haven't locked the ball in the sarcophagus. Once the sarcophagus is open, you have to get the ball in there, before the Mummy will start spotting letters.

Ok got some pictures of the newton ball assy, the actuator rod is thread, and in some cases has thread lock on it. The pivot shoulder is also threaded, and has thread lock on it. So in order to get it apart you have to hold the newton ball and unscrew it. Which is where I am at now, trying to get it unscrewed without damaging the newton ball. Once that's done then I can replace the bad spring, so the actuator will then start re centering in the spoon. Right now the rod and ball sit in what ever direction it was last hit, and will not return to center.

This of course causes 2 instant mummy hits when the ball is put in the shooter lane on game start, not to mention song select because you scored points, and auto ball launch.

Anybody make any b'dass custom cards yet?
I actually need a set for MET, ACDC, and Maiden. Not a big deal (obviously), but gettin a little tired of the bright yellow stock ones.

#991 5 years ago

Are you sure it's the spring? Did you make sure the bracket has the spoon dead centered on the post? Worked on one of these today with this issue. Looked to be centered but was justified to one side and would cause the post to "jump" off of the spoon and make it look like the ball was stuck trying to get back into its cup. A hard shot would have it jump back on. The solution was bending the bracket the spoon was in to be dead centered on the ball and even when hit very hard it would return to zero.

#992 5 years ago

Delt: there is an eddy for getting to cyborg, 2 minutes, mummy super jackpot and trooper super jackpot. That gets you the number of the beast mode.

With spoon removed, the ball/post will not re center. you can move it in any direction and it will stay in that direction. The clairvoyant on will re center when moved. It's not binding on anything so stern seems to think the spring is broken. The only way to find out is to try and get it apart, which is proving rather difficult.
