I was traveling for work through Kansas City and a fellow pinsider recommended I stop by this place while I waited for him to get out of work.
So, I had about an hour to kill and I stoped by.
Walked to a guy in a chair that asked for id. Then stopped by the bar for a water before checking the place out. She handed me the water along with another cup with tokens and a wrist band.
It was then I realized I was there during some kind of corporate event... O, well. I figured I'm not there long and might as well see what it's like. Not every day I'm in KC.
Well, it took two games for them to realize I didn't belong.
The employees were very rude, called me a thief and told me to leave.
I tried to explain, but their ears were closed. (Maybe hard of hearing from the constant loud music there).
O well... I apologized and left.
I just think it sucks how it was handled.
All I know is, I won't be going to any up-down location in the future.

O well. I got to see it. Thanks for the suggestions for next time.

Honestly, they didn't have anything I don't already have or local friends have.
Plus, shortly after I visited a pinsider/friend that has 5x what up-down has (pinball wise) and in much better condition. So, it's all good.

It was a mistake on both sides.
Them for letting me in without showing a company id (the MN license should have been a red flag to the door guy).
Then my fault for using 2 of their free (handed to me) tokens.
I figured, I'm here for only a few minutes just passing through; who's gonna care.

It's the way they handled the situation that wasn't very hospitable. They could have said, "hey if you're not part of this group, you can come back in an hour when its over". Instead they chose to make a seen of it and escorted me to the door.
In business, first impressions are everything. My first impression was not good, therefore I don't care to vist that business in the future.
I hear there are others I should have went and saw down the street.

Thanks Brian. A local location would see me more frequently, so good to know there are good folks running it.

I tried to hand them to the guy that held the door, but he wouldn't take them. He just pointed to the outside and said "no! Leave now!!" I apologized again and placed them on a picnic table on the patio.
I didn't need to make more of a seen than it already was.

Quoted from Hawkeyepin:

Just to clarify.

Nope. Just stopped for a quick look while I waited for a pinside friend to get out of work.
No alcohol or assholery involved. Just got of the car from a 5hr drive to KC.

Ok, I'll let this thread die now. I've said what I wanted to say.
I'll let others form their own opinions about the location.
