I almost got thrown out too though. I was slapping The side rail of the mmr to get a switch to recognize the ball and some yahoo yelled at me for a while.

More like the Up-Tight! Check out the 403 club next time. It's not far from downtown and it caters more to pinheads.

Definitely much better places in KC to play. Next time, check out 403 club or Tapcade NKC. Both locations have 11, very nice and well maintained games with no duplicates, great beer selections, and much more pinball friendly crowds and staff.

Yeah honestly I'm not sure I get your complaint. You're mad that employees were rude when they found out you'd crashed a private event? When you started playing the tokens you knew you weren't entitled to, that's when you surrendered any right to complain about a lack of hospitality from the establishment.

Did they tell him it was closed to a corporate event though? If not they probably should have.

I think the point in time at which OP realized it was a corporate event would have been the time he should have told someone he didn't belong and apologized profusely for accidentally crashing the party. Once it became intentional, then the OP became a thief and lucky not to have had the cops called.

Lol. Is this really how you think?? It's a public establishment. If they didn't want non-party guests in they need to do a better job of managing it. Calling the cops would have been an epic fail and only warranted if the OP became belligerent when asked to leave and refused. It's not the customer's responsibility to know what private events are going on at any particular location.

Certainly if the OP refused to leave after being asked, yes the cops would be called, and OP would be arrested for trespassing. Just because a place is a public establishment doesn't mean you can do whatever you feel like.

And in my mind, no, it's not OK to take stuff that you know doesn't belong to you. Even if it's offered to you by mistake or incompetence.

But he didn't refuse to leave... thus no reason to call the cops.

I agree with T-800, it could have a been a try it out night or something of the like. The business should of told him that when he walked in. He didn't steal anything, they gave him the coins without asking if he was with the group then they got pissed when they figured out they screwed up. Now I guess it is the smallest amount the op's fault for not asking why he got some free tokens but to be honest I would have done the exact same thing. I also agree calling the police would have been over kill for a simple misunderstanding.

Better to get kicked out than kicked in the balls.

The place is OK, but they don't have any unique games, so you probably didn't miss out on too much. The only game that's worth traveling to Up Down for is Killer Queen. Sorry to hear they treated you poorly.

I don't know anything about the KC location. But, the team they have at the Minneapolis shop are a good bunch of folks. This certainly doesn't seem like the way things are run here at all.

I forwarded your thread to one of the individuals involved with the ownership of the bar. Just so they were aware of your expierance.

brenna98 - I think it would have been funny if you made it "Rain" so to speak with the cup of coins as you left. That might have been police worthy but it would have also been very funny.

My only corporate party experience with pinball is being out in Vegas for CES and after the show my group went to PhoF and a huge corporate event was there with food trucks and alcohol out back. People from Oracle or whatever could not of been nicer gave us some coins to play the games, food, and alcohol. They knew we did not have a badge or invite and didn't care.

Up/down in Des Moines is way to mellow for that. Very rarely are there door people ever.

Just to clarify...you didn't go in there and look like a creeper or yell "you can't kick me out! I know my rights" or drunkenly scream "my next round is on you! Gophers to Rose Bowl b!tchez!"

Yeah KC updown has people IDing every person that enters. They don't allow anyone in that doesn't have ID, even if it's an obviously middle aged person.

Next time you are in KC come by Knub's Pub or Pizza West. Jeff and I will make a concerted effort to be there ourselves to kick you out.

Looks like they are coming to STL, and between Padavans, Two Plumbers, and a few others they will have a tough time if they have a bad attitude. It looks like the same owners as KC, which is a bummer, if the Minneapolis guys are cool.
