Quoted from dung:That was announced. BOM was high. Also before the last run announcement the game didn't seem to be selling well. It wasn't till it became a limited item that interest really picked up.
Just for clarification: it wasn't officially announced. Keith Johnson confirmed on a podcast (I think it was Buffalo Pinball's show) that the community's stupidity (my word) around the spinning disc and treasure chest led to cancellations which directly impacted sales projections, and led to a reduced order on parts, which further impacted the profit margin (fewer parts cost more individually to make), and here we are. I'm sure JJP wishes they hadn't shown the prototypes with that stuff working so early on, but I seriously doubt they expected the backlash that resulted. Which, IMO, in hindsight, was stupid.
