The appeal of a buttplug? Do I really have to explain that?

Touché but I mean the appeal of a buttplug on a pinball machine. Unless you wanna be like the guy in the Silverball Mania backglass

People feeling like they need to go to college, and/or getting useless degrees is the fundamental problem here

    Quoted from rotordave:

I can cook a better brisket in my oven than most people cook in their expensive smokers.

Haven’t done one for a while, but here’s one of my oven briskets.

1/ 1.5kg brisket with a little fat on it.
2/ stab all over with a table fork. Rub both sides with Stubbs rub and Stubbs smoke juice
3/ sit for a day in the fridge, tray covered with cling film
4/ next day, rub both sides again, and sprinkle on a little more smoke juice. Put a little rock salt over the top. Let sit in the pantry overnight to come to room temp
5/ around lunchtime, heat the oven to 130C, cover the meat tray with tin foil and bang it in the oven.
6/ around 5:30, pull the tray out, remove the foil, turn the oven to GRILL at max and pop the meat back in until the fat cap is bubbling.
7/ pull it out and let it sit for 15/20 mins before slicing.

    Juicy, tasty brisket!

80s Gottliebs are better tournament games than 80s Williams games.

That was my best friend/drinking buddy. Led a charmed life - hired into Ford in the early 90s before you needed a degree (with a little help from dad). Somehow avoided all the layoffs/recession/corporate restructuring of the next 30 years and retired last year at 56 unscathed. Didn't marry til he was 50. Never had to worry about unemployment, or insurance, or how he was going to take care of his family or pay the mortgage. As a result he has zero empathy for anyone on welfare, or immigrants, the list goes on.

We were inseparable from our teens into our 30s. Now we talk once or twice a year.

I'm sure I come across just as arrogant and opinionated to others, and they are probably right. But I don't fear to help others. I suspect a great many pinballers would agree on those points. Empathy is what we need the most, but that also requires imagination or personal experience. I get humbled sometimes by others here and elsewhere.

I played it on location yesterday and it always leaves me scratching my head why people go nuts for it.

Tron Legacy isn't John Borg's best work. Almost every game he had made since is better (Metallica, Iron Man, TWD, GOTG, TMNT, etc)

The game play isn't great (it's not terrible), the movie it is based on wasn't good (51% on Rotten Tomatoes), and will likely never get vaulted because costs associated with the license and porting it over an 11 year old SAM game to the Spike 2 platform.

If it was based on the original movie, and not as created as part of the media promotion campaign for the sequel, it might be a different story.

I love Walmart. I hate Target.

    Quoted from Ryguy80:

Yep, HV was underrated. Could find titles in inventory for rent whereas Blockbuster was out because everyone went there first looking for movies.

True statement. I also liked that Hollywood Video at least attempted to make the video store an “experience”.

The employees all wore white pleated tuxedo shirts with vests and bow ties, and my local one even had fresh movie popcorn for sale.

Yep, and they had this video wall where they advertised upcoming releases for rental. This was before the World Wide Web took off, so this was one way to get info on what was on deck.

I’ve never used Twitters in my whole life, and I’ll probably never use it in the future. Having said that ,it still needs to be repaired ,so that everyone who uses it can be heard.

I have no need to read any of the crap the twitter users believe must be heard.

I hope Musk starts charging people to use it and it becomes as pointless and idiotic as Truth Social.

Agreed. I hate social media. It's the worst way to have any sort of conversation with anyone.

Then you and I are in the same camp.I can’t concern myself with what they have to say either. But the millions of people who do use it ,deserve a fair playing field.

I think without choosing sides on a topic the freedom to post should not include the freedom to lie or make shit up.who decides whats a lie is the slippery slope.

You already have Hollywood for making shit up. Example: HBO Max's "Winning Time". People that don't understand NBA history will come out of that show thinking Jerry West was some over-the-top rage-a-holic.

agreed,I have seen it and dont care for it.Not winning Time in particular but many other visions of a subject.People can narrate a subject and dress it up any way they choose (artistic license)unfortunately some people watch these and consider it all truth.

No problem with Hollywood making up shit. That's the entertainment business to get an audience.

The problem is when a network presents itself as news, making up shit to get an audience. People will believe crazy shit and act out on it.

Well said. As in anything, the freedom of speech does not mean the freedom from consequences. And it's also not absolute, like not yelling fire in a crowded theatre, [Removed].

    Yep.

I believe everyone should read a newspaper or two, and not get their news from cable or television. Ah, the days of a Sunday paper and coffee on a porch.

Freedom of speech is too important to let anyone decide what we can and can't say. Especially some billionaire prick with an agenda !
The world is full of liars and I don't need someone protecting me from them. No one is stopping the media and Politicians from lying and making stuff up,so why censor the rest of us ?

Billionaire pricks with agendas are the issue not your average citizen with an opinion.

Sorta agree. Definitely about the billionaire pricks. Freedom of speech is not absolute, however, for very good reasons.

Actually, no. Yelling fire in the crowded theatre is the classic example of why not.

I guess I see it differently - you are right that no one is stopping the media, well, one channel and a bunch of AM stations anyway, and politicians from making stuff up. But I'd argue we need to push for laws to prevent them from doing that. Rather than go to the wild west, we need laws that get enforced to prevent the misuse of the public airwaves. And I don't have the time to research every item, so I'm happy to have editors and fact-checkers doing that work for me. But heck yes on the billionaire stuff. Ugh.

Okay since you brought up the old cliche of yelling fire, here's a couple more.
Forms of speech that aren’t protected include:
Obscene material such as child pornography
    Plagiarism of copyrighted material
    Defamation (libel and slander)
    True threats
Speech inciting illegal actions or soliciting others to commit crimes aren’t protected under the First Amendment, either
