Music, like food, is subjective. However....

    Joe Jackson> Elvis Costello

Nick Drake is one of the best artists of all time even though his three albums didn't sell shit until many years after he killed himself.

Ramsey Lewis recorded the definitive version of "Dancing in the Street".

De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest are two of the most influential rap artists.

Bruce Cockburn, although popular in Canada, is underrated everywhere else.

    Your turn.

Dio era sabbath is far superior to the Ozzy era.

Master of Puppets is still the best overall metal album of all time.

Most people will never understand Ween but they are one of the greatest bands of all time.

    Quoted from schwarz:

Two of my smartest friends swear this is true.

I have to spend some time listening to Ween.

Yep...that's when people started to discover him.

"TYR" is one of the best, if not the best Black Sabbath album.
Jon Bon Jovis "Blaze of Glory" is one of the best solo albums ever.
"Sad Wings of Desitiny" is Judas Priest best Album..............

The red hot chili peppers are very overrated.
    Bon jovi is just terrible.

    Long live MCA!
    Muddy waters was a god.

Are you ready for a brand new beat?

    #16 3 years ago

Gave you a thumbs up because I agree with you even though I've seen RHCP twice and they were amazing.

I still get weepy about Adam Yauch.

    #17 3 years ago
    Quoted from Rezdog:

Are you ready for a brand new beat?

    Oof.

This is tied with the Grateful Dead's disco version of absolute shite, even though I'm a deadhead.

Rust in Peace says hello and suck it (Master is high on my list though, top 5 for sure)

Power Metal is the best Pantera album by a long shot.

BB King and"Lucille" were one of the greatest music duos of all time.

    #21 3 years ago
    Quoted from Slugmeister:

BB King and"Lucille" were one of the greatest music duos of all time.

    Agreed.

Saw him/them at the Monterey Blues Festival. I was mesmerized for his entire set.

Also fortunate to have seen John Lee Hooker in Avila Beach, Cal. I was in the front row resting my arms on the stage with a big grin on my face.

    #22 3 years ago

The Kinks had a great concept album that went absolutely nowhere. But I love it.
    It’s called “Soap Opera”

    #23 3 years ago

Not a country fan at all. But am a huge Staind fan, and Aaron Lewis's country music is pretty damn good. Have seen 3 times in concert, pre covid of course. Check out " forever" on utube

Rolling Stones songs with Keith Richards on vocals are some of their best

"Born Again" by Black Sabbath is an excellent album.

    Quoted from cscmtp:

Peace Sells, man! I would have met you halfway on that!
(I was a big Megadeth fan until Dave got religion)

    Quoted from VanishingVision:

Controversial that the Tribe is one the most influential?

    Hardly, brotha!

They might very well be the greatest rap group EVER.

    #30 3 years ago

    John Mayer is a great guitar player....and I couldn’t rap for shit : )

    Quoted from Pinballsoul:

Replace overrated with terrible and I’ll agree.

    #32 3 years ago

My thesis: any song in which I can’t clearly understand the lyrics the first time through is less good.

For example: ABBA , John Denver or Bob Dylan > Nirvana, Ozzy or any song after 2000 (all awful)

    Bobby Bare beats all.

    #33 3 years ago

Yesterday’s mixtapes were better than today’s playlists.

Not sure how Ozzy applies to that. Sure he may be hard to understand in interviews but he can sing lyrics very clearly for the most part.

In hindsight, almost all of the music from the ‘90s is and was really bad. It just hasn’t held up. Of course, there are exceptions - Rage, Tool, Nirvana.

Slayer Reign in Blood for me

    Quoted from schwarz:

When I was dropping a LOT of acid in high school, Ween and The Residents were my favorite bands to trip to. Saw them live in Vancouver around 96 or 97

    Agree 1000% U2 sucks

Coldplay is the worst music I've ever heard

Prince's music is terrible. Guy could shred an axe alongside some of the best, but the music was just awful

    Quoted from dirkdiggler:

I’ve said the same and it’s super unpopular. I also say that living in Minneapolis. There’s Purple Rain and Sign O the Times, but past that most people don’t own any Prince albums unless you are a collector. He is a musical genius and an amazing guitar player. It’s just that the vast majority of his music isn’t accessible for the masses.

Rush, undeniably talented musicians but every time I hear Geddy Lee’s voice I want to drive ice picks into my ears.

You normally bring mirth to me, but today... great sadness. I weep for your soul.

Roy Clark was a great guitarist and more talented than Slash.

Lol, I’d be a huge Rush fan if all they did were instrumentals.
