Hey guys, heading to Osceola tomorrow for an arcade party. Anyone else in the area? How about Stillwater? We'll be heading through there on the way. I know there used to be a cool pizza place (Shane's?) there that had pins and arcade games, but I think it's closed now. Is there anything else worth checking out in that town?

#261 11 years ago
Quoted from jonogo:

Lots of antique shops if you are into that. A ton of history in that town.

Yeah I know about the antique stores, as I've been there several times in the past, but it's been a few years. I'm talking bars, restaurants, bowling alleys, billiard halls, etc.

Hey ChrisS, I sent you a message. Thanks!!

Quoted from ChrisS:

Hey All,
I'm coming to the land of 10k lakes this weekend.
Looks like a trip to Blainebrook Friday night. Not sure when but probably around the 7pm hour. I'll be the one in shorts.
Chris

Did you get my email with pics? You never responded one way or the other. We'll be heading up to Blainebrook soon as well, be a good place to swap if we can swing a deal. Thanks!

#315 11 years ago

Damn, missed out on another one. I will own this game some day.

I'll be selling or trading a JP and TFTC soon. JP will be around $1900, TFTC will be at around $2400. I had interested parties in both, but the trails have gone cold. I'll be looking for a players CFTBL or an Indiana Jones.

#473 11 years ago

Will anyone from MN who is going to MGC have room to bring a pin back for me? Trying to swing a deal on a Creetch in Milwaukee. Thanks!!

Quoted from pinheadpuckguy:

No sorry my F150 only carries one. I would if I had room. Check with Postmaster if he's going.

OK, thanks.

Yeah these threads are great.

OK, my JP has been traded for a JM (yes THAT JM) and my TFTC has been paid for in full and will be shipping to AZ in the next few weeks. Looks like I also have a Creetch within my grasp and someone who can pick it up and bring it back to MN for me. The people in this hobby can be pretty damned awesome. Life is good.

Quoted from crank:

Thanks Phet! Yaay, no more JM thread!

You're most welcome. Now to trade JM for a DM or JD. (in a few weeks or so)

Bill, not sure how to attach pics in PMs, so I thought I'd post some pics of your DKjr multi in this thread. I should be done with it next week, but Monday is cuttin' it close. See you at MGC.

Nice, I have that same arcade control panel as shown in the SMB cab. Joysticks only, so I had to shop for buttons at AxMan. Hopefully to be a future MAME controller.

It's a Nintendo Vs. Unisystem CP. I have like 5 of them laying around.

Hey guys, I posted this in the Gameroom Forum, but I'll put it here too:

The 3rd Annual Galaxy Blue Soiree will be held starting at 2pm on May 25, 2013 in Avon, MN. Avon is located on I-94, about 75 miles West of Minneapolis and 150 miles East of Fargo. Last year we had about 50 people. I've got about 25 playable Video Arcade machines between the gameroom and garage, and will have 4 pins. CFTBL, Congo, Flintstones and Godzilla. Jukebox will be spinning 45's of your favorite 80's hits. We'll have food, you bring beer or other liquor. We may or may not have a band playing outdoors this year, depends on the weather and band availability. If you plan to attend, please post here. Here is the thread over at KLOV about last year's party:

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/show...63#post2403163

My gameroom is predominantly vids, but the 4 pins I have are good ones. Kinda wish I still had my JM, but oh well.

Quoted from MnHotRod:

Maybe I should move the Pinball BBQ to Sunday? It is a three day weekend so would it matter? Anyone making a long drive could then attend two pinball events in one weekend? Thoughts?

Sorry about that man. I knew about your shindig, but didn't really notice it was the 25th. Mine is on Memorial Day Saturday every year and we try to keep it consistent so people set aside the date. Up til last year it has been mainly a vid party, my pin number has just increased this year due to me shifting focus. You can move yours if you want, but don't do it on my account. If you do move it to Sunday, there is a much greater chance I can make it.

I may be looking for a Decent Demolition Man in the near future. I have no more pins to trade (mine are all keepers now) but I will be restoring a few arcade cabs this summer that will be for sale or I could use as a partial trade. Titles up for restoration: Restored Punchout! ($1000), Restored Frogger ($800), Custom Horizontal Multi ($800), Frogger-themed Vertical Multi ($1000), Dedicated Pigout! ($700). Also, if anyone is looking for a fully restored TRON arcade machine, I'd do an even up swap on that one, as the values would be pretty equal (+/- $2000 or so). Just throwing that out there.

In other MN Pin news, my annual Galaxy Blue Soiree is coming up on Saturday May 25th, starting around 3pm in Avon, MN (about 75 miles NW of Minneapolis on I-94). I will have 4 pins at the (home-based) event, and about 20-25 vids. BYOB or liquor is appreciated, but we do have a fully stocked wet bar for those that forget. There is also a liquor store in Avon, right off the freeway exit, 1.5 miles from my front door. There will be food, 80's music, yard games and plenty of pinheads and vid guys to talk shop with.

Quoted from MnHotRod:

I left a detailed post on a local powder coat guy on page 5 of this thread. It's about 3/4 of the way down the page. He is located in Maple Grove and he's reasonably priced. He did the armor on idtatoo's Scared Stiff that I believe was sold to Millz here on Pinside.

Yeah Doug did the armor on my Congo. I initially wanted use him because someone mentioned he could do brass plating. I tried to get him to do that but he just showed me gold powder coat colors instead, which lead me to believe he does not do brass plating. We finally agreed on a gold color based on soda cans that he had powder coated. While thinking more about it, i decided that really didn't like gold powder coat, so I emailed him because I changed my mind. Thats when he directed me to the prismatic website where i could pick any color. I chose a metallic orange and a candy green, and he was pretty excited. Though it DID take about 6 weeks due to other jobs and trips he took out of the country, he maintained decent communication throughout and he did a pretty good job in the end. I'd use him again, but only if I wasn't in a hurry.

#994 11 years ago
Quoted from MnHotRod:

Some friends have brought motorcycle and car parts to Doug and got them back the next day. Good to here feedback but I'm sure that is not the norm.

I'm just presenting the facts. I don't usually sweat the small stuff, so I wasn't too worked up about it, but I know a lot of people in this hobby do sweat the small stuff, so I am just giving those people a heads up that it may take him longer than he thinks it will. I was also quoted around 2 or so weeks and $130 for the work when we started the deal, and ended up waiting 6 weeks and being charged $200 when I went to pick up the stuff. My local powdercoater charges me around $90 for the same amount of work. I liked Doug and his wife a lot though, and thought he did a great job on the parts. It just took him almost 3 times as long as he told me it would, and I was charged $70 more than he quoted me. Also, if you don't mention you want the front AND back or the top AND bottom of a part coated, he will only do the side that he knows will be seen, and leaves the 'hidden' side uncoated. My rails and lock-down bar were powdered on the top and outside only. I had to tell him to do the back of the coin door, or he woulda left that unfinished as well. Again, these are just the facts, I am in no way trashing the guy. I really liked the dude and hope everyone in MN uses him for powder from now on, just make sure to be specific on what you want done.

My party was a huge success this year, though I don't think a single Pinsider showed up. Oh well, the pins got plenty of play anyway.

man that's a sweet ass gameroom setup you have there. Spaced out great, and lots of move around space. Very sweet.

Thanks man. The flow was perfect this year.

Quoted from goatdan:

Odd, I've had the same experience with CFTBL. First impressions were not good. I've since been convinced to play it more, and I really like it. Fast and mean...

I love my Creetch. I never really understood the hate for the game, but now that I've been around Pinside for a while, I've realized there's a lot of hate for a lot of games that seems unwarranted and in some ways almost seems scripted. Because of that realization, I don't tend to worry about popular opinion much anymore. If I did, I'd never like or buy anything. Oh and this just in:

Congo rocks.
