Anyone in the Minneapolis area have an Austin Powers, Guns N Roses, or South Park they might want to sell? I'm looking to change up my collection and will be selling either my Space Invaders or Monday Night Football to make room and raise some funds for a new machine.

I sold my Game Show machine to a cool little spot up in the north side of Minneapolis last night. It's called Blue Sun Soda shop. There are 1000+ different varieties of sodas available and the best part is, they have these three machines now set up for free play. It's located just a few minutes away from Blainebrook Bowl. Great, friendly staff too!

Can anyone here recommend a good tech in the Twin Cities area? I have a an issue with my Austin Powers and Guns N Roses. My usual tech I'd used for a few years recently moved away and I feel like an orphan.

Thanks in advance if anyone can comment or pm someone to reach out to.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I'll be reaching out soon.

I wanted to give a quick thank you to you guys for recommending John Ross. He was out to my place last week and quickly got my Future Spa, Austin Powers, and F-14 Tomcat back up and running. He had to order some new parts for my Guns N Roses, but he said he’d likely be back within the week to finish up. Super nice guy and I highly recommend him myself now. It’s a huge relief to have a go-to tech again, since the guy I used for several years moved away. So once again -thank you for the recommendation! On a side note, I also emailed and called Craig’s Pinball repair. I talked to him on the phone for a bit and explained my issues. He seemed like a nice enough guy, but said he’d have to check his schedule and call me back. Well, two weeks later, and I never received a call or email back. Hopefully nothing bad happened to him.

Live from Eagan, Minnesota. I love when my son has his friends over and they all go nuts playing pinball. Often times it's the first time most kids have ever played a game.

Quoted from twenty6point2:

Anyone within a couple hours of SE MN have an early SS machine they are considering parting with.

I'll be selling a nice F-14 soon. PM if you have an interest. I'd love to keep it, but I have a Terminator 2 and a Doctor Who I picked up Friday, sitting in my garage that need to find a home for within my small pinball space. I'm still trying to convince my girlfriend to let me start putting a few games at her house. It's been a slow, soft sell...

Quoted from lordloss:

coworker comes over to tell me about a $1900 dr who machine I should go pick up. Told him I think it sold already.

I reached out to her right away and said she had a few people inquire, but that she wasn't going to hold it and it was first come, first served. So I snuck out of the office and drove up to near Rogers, MN (man, traffic sucks heading up that way at noon on a Friday!). Before I left I asked her to check her messages and she counted and said there were 13 people total who said they wanted it after I had got there. The game looks really nice and I can't wait to get it glowing with LED bulbs.

While digging through the Pharaoh this morning, I found the sales receipt, showing it sold for $450 in 1988. Anyone know a Scott Wessel? Looks like $35 was the hourly labor rate in the late 80’s. I love time capsule stuff like this.

The backglass has a lot of paint peeling, so I'm kicking around the idea of having the Powerslave artwork made up into a translite, and re-theme this into an Iron Maiden. And the Eddie Pharaoh head would look bad ass on the playfield.

Or I'll go with the translite being sold on eBay. Looks pretty sweet too.

I'm heading to Game Works at the MOA tomorrow for a company party. I think I recall hearing that they now had pinball machines now? Anyone happen to know what they have there? Sounds like we all get an unlimited play card for several hours, so you better believe I will not be socializing much and it will be non-stop free pinball!

Quoted from PinDocMN:

Is there a shortage of pins or some kind of pinball bubble going on right now making games harder to find and super expensive?

When I got into the hobby 5 years ago, there seemed to be a lot more pins on Craig's List. I too bought 6 games in the first year. There are steals here and there that I've come across, but they are harder and harder to find. I've made some great friends in this hobby and that seems to be the way to go, by buying/selling/trading with those folks. Thanks to all the millennials discovering pinball at places at Up/Down and Tilt, things will keep getting harder to snatch up and the prices will continue to rise.

Quoted from northvibe:

Hey I’m looking for a south park pinball if anyone has one for sale or Knows of one!

A coworker of mine caught the pinball bug last year, after playing games at my house. Not having any knowledge about games, I recommended he buy at Pinball Warehouse up in Fridley, since I knew it would likely be in great shape. He ended up buying a gorgeous South park, but he paid retail for it (I think $3100 or $3200). He now wants to sell the South Park and get a Metallica Pro (his wife is allowing only 1 game in the house...). I'd be happy to put you in contact with him. I'm actually tempted to buy it myself, even though it's really expensive for a SP. It is all LED, blade art, lots of figure mods, topper, shopped out, etc. I may sell my Doctor Who soon to raise cash for this one.

Anyway, I wanted to throw it out there that I know of a very nice SP that is available anytime. I just know he won't sell it for less than he paid.

Can't a new Metallica Pro be bought from a distributor for sub-$5000 still or have prices gone up? It's been a few years since I bought NIB from Cointaker, but I don't recall ever paying more than $4700 shipped (for MET and KISS Pros).

#11284 5 years ago

I’m looking to mix up my collection in the next couple months. Anyone interested in trading something for a Doctor Who? Fun game, but I just don’t connect with theme. Im in the process of moving, so the game is currently wrapped up and staged in my living room, but I’ll be moving into the new place hopefully August 1st and will get it set up. I’ll be in Lakeville, about 5 minutes south of Buck Hill. These are the only photos I have of it, after I did a topside clean up, rubber, and LED conversion.

More pics in a couple months if anyone is interested.

I love South Park too. My buddy bought an absolutely gorgeous one at Pinball Warehouse a couple years ago. I think he paid something like $3300. I thought he was crazy to pay that much, but it was his first game and he wanted something working and looking great when he brought it home to his reluctant wife. Now he wants to sell it for what he paid and I'm thinking with pricing the way it is, I should scoop it up.

There'll be some nudity and beer...

Having been around many backstage scenes the last 10 years, your typical greenroom, even with the big bands, is a few notches up from a middle school cafeteria. Most are snoozefests.... The exceptions I witnessed are Danzig and Cypress Hill. Those guys have a scene backstage... But the groupies and WAGS at the X-Games were ridiculous. Makes me wish I'd practiced my BMX or skateboard moves better. But, history is not going to be kind to all these super hot girls, completely tatted up. Maybe that's your thing, but nothing dings a perfect 10, than arms, legs, necks, covered in tattoos. Just my humble old-guy opinion.

I just wanted to give another shout out and recommendation to hire John Ross at Pinball Plus for any of your game fix needs. I had him out to my place for a few hours last night. He got my Doctor Who tuned up and working perfectly again, replaced some broken parts on the Bally KISS, worked some magic on the T2, made the Guns N Roses even more rocking, and is currently servicing the boards on my Pharaoh. Great guy who is a genius at fixing games.

Beware of this guy selling the Space Invaders and Craig’s List. He’s been mentioned here before and has a history of bidding up his own auctions. This auction ended yesterday at $1000. This morning the game is back on Craig’s List for $1500, as well as relisted on eBay for $2500 or “Make an offer”. I offered $999.99 and he accepted. Now it’s re-listed again for $2500. Oh well. He can keep getting hit with the 10% commission every time it’s sold and he relists.

Come on down to Babe's in Lakeville this Friday night at 9:30pm to see Smokescreen! There will be a few south of the river collectors there to see our buddy play drums. Probably 40-50 pins owned between us all. Great people. You'll be able to pick us out in the crowd because the dress code seems to require a pinball themed t-shirt.

All the pins were 5.5 credits per swipe with two swipes getting you 3 plays (works out to just over a $1 a credit).

Thanks for the credit-to-dollar heads up. I inquired through their Facebook page how much the games cost and got the credit response. I followed up with "How much is a credit?", but didn't get a reply. I was hoping the food review would be good, as I'd make the trek to check it out. But, it sounds like $.50 games at Tilt and Pho 79, right around the corner for lunch, is where I'll be at tomorrow around noon with my son.

Had much interest on your KISS Pro yet Ben?

That one in Eagan isn't mine. And being the KISS-nerd that I am, that one and the original are never leaving the collection! Then I'll have to unload the Doctor Who & Demo Man to raise funds and make room.

I'm looking to mix up the lineup in 2019. I likely won't make any changes for a few months, as I'd prefer to not have to move pins around in the ice and cold, but just wanted to throw this out there for the March/April time frame. Not looking to sell outright at this time, but I'll be up for trading straight up (preferably) or +/- cash as needed: Doctor Who, Pharaoh, and Terminator 2. Shoot me a message if you have any games in your collection that you wouldn't mind letting go and maybe we can help each other mix it up. It's been awhile since I added a new game to the collection and it would be fun to have something new to me.

Anyone in the Twin Cities area have a Millionaire for sale? Looking to start work on re-theme and this is the game I'm going to use. Condition not an issue, as it will be wiped pretty clean. Just need one that doesn't have a ton of other issues, other than cosmetic.

Anyone interested in a nice Doctor Who? I'm going to list on Craig's List in the next week or two, but wanted to open up to any trade offers first. I have some games listed on my wish list, but am always open to other titles. I can't transport, so it would have to be a local Twin Cities deal or someone willing to drive both ways. Shoot me a message if you have a game you may want to trade (straight up preferably, but I'd do +/- cash depending on the title).

This is the only photo I have at the moment, but will be taking many more photos for the listing this weekend and can message them to you.

Quoted from northvibe:

There’s a few 80 games that are trashy but look cool/fun.

I'm still looking for a Millionaire,to re-theme into a Trump game. Let me know if you have one to sell/trade.

Do pinball prices spike this time of year? I'm not talking about the astute collectors here on Pinside, but am more wondering about the average first-time buyer, getting one for a family X-Mas gift.

I've been thinking about unloading my collection and getting out of the hobby and am trying to determine the best time of year to sell. I'd prefer not to deal with it during these colder months, but was thinking maybe games could fetch a premium this time of year. Any past experience and insight is appreciated.

Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

John is not retiring. He's simply not making house calls at this time. He said he has no idea when he'll be doing them again.

I've joked (sort of) with John, that the day he retires, is the day I sell my entire collection. I don't know how to fix 90% of the issues that occasionally pop up and without a trusted go-to like John, I'd have to exit the hobby.

It's crazy how many games are popping up on CL this week. Looks like people are starting to cash out. I'm in the same boat. My job is safe for now, as I can work for home, but things could get rough in the coming months. I'm going to photo my Guns N Roses, Demo Man and maybe Austin Powers sometime this week. Anyone else getting ready to sell games?

Quoted from PokerJake:

Just gotta price it realistically and someone has to want it.

Well, you guys were right. My Guns N' Roses sold in about 5 hours through Craig's List. $5600 for an excellent condition example (no topper). I'm happy, as I recouped what I was into it for and the new owner is beyond psyched, after looking out for one for several years.

Quoted from LTG:

Minnesota's stay at home is extended from May 4th to May 18th.

This keeps arcades and barcades, etc. closed until then. At least.

How long until business owners just say screw the order and open up anyway?

I went to the Burnsville Costco earlier tonight and saw the sign out front that masks will be required starting 5/4 and “Any member not complying will be denied entry”. I had to ironically chuckle as I walked into their store, carrying a gun that could kill 16 people in 16 seconds, but in a few days, my breathing will deny my entry.

Sorry Jason, but as soon as I realized it was you, I was on to the next buyer. Your name is well known to Twin City pinball collectors as a weirdo, time waster. The game is sold and has been picked up. Everything is gone. I had fun with the hobby and met a ton of really great guys around town the last several years. I wish you all happy flippin’.
