Quoted from NightTrain:Is it still $25/person if you just come on Sunday?
It's still worth it if you just come on Sunday. And you'll have the added benefit of not eating so much Pizza Luce that you're ashamed of yourself. Really really ashamed.

And it's up and running !

Hmmmm. To head over straight after work... or wait until Saturday.....

The girlfriend and I finally headed over to Sun Ray to check out your tables last night. Absolutely great line up, nice and close by, and in absolutely wonderful shape. Will be back often.
Quoted from LTG:Tuesday 10am pinball machines going back in. Need lots of help then. Please.
LTG : )
I might even have stopped hurting from Monday night by then.
Quoted from policano:Hey Guys, Hope all is well! We are now forming our Winter 2015 East Side Pinball League.

Registered, and trying to get the girlfriend to do so as well. She may just view it as "you get the Hell out of the apartment and leave me alone" time though.
I asked in person but honestly don't even remember the answer. Any chance or plans to do an alternating league as well?
So it appears that my girlfriend is sneaky as well as wonderful. Some of you knew of her plans of buying me a table before I did.
In no particular order, thanks to the four of you that I know she's contacted regarding tables over the past few months. LTG, jonogo, Policano, and MN-Flipper. My constant babbling about tables even when I assume I'm boring her to tears pays dividends.
A trip to Chicago yesterday was taken under some serious false pretenses. But not only did I more or less accidentally get to play a Big Lebowski table at the Pinball Life warehouse, this now sits in my living room.
She's the damn best.
Quoted from Tallon:Dear Santa,
I know I have been bad but if you could send me a GF like this I'm sure she will be able help straighten me out. I will do my best to be the bestest I can from now on.
Scott
P.S. I like red ones
She has a sister....
(Who thought she was being insane.)
Quoted from LesManley:Maybe I should start offering a rom burning service during the events since it worked out so well.
I could similarly start up a rom chip removal service, but I really can't recommend myself. Perhaps mangled and bent pin straightening tweezer specialist instead.
Quoted from lordloss:Or that centaur? Anyone grab that?
Saw that ad, but didn't see a price.
Just a bit about how they plugged it in and it didn't turn on. Combined with pictures of it on the floor without legs. Makes the smart ass in me wonder if they know about the switch on the bottom.
That being said, I just plan on telling people to "Snap into a Slim Jim!" yelling "Ohhhhh Yeah!!!!" a lot and throwing chairs.
Then I will weep into my beer and pretend to be haunted by the ghost of Miss Elizabeth.
Glad it went to a good home, and glad the owner got something more reasonable money wise.
The second she posted it for $200 the table probably warned her. "Bad move, human."
Went looking on the Madison CL to see if I could find the Xenon ad that started this discussion. Didn't find it (Though I'd really like to see what it looks like when you clearcoat over mylar or while the playfield is populated.) but I did find this.
Dibs.
Quoted from orangestorm87:To be fair that one has been up awhile with a previous price of $1,800. So the $17,000 is a typing error on the sellers part.
Ahhh. Darn. Crazy people are far more entertaining than people with fat fingers.
Quoted from rollitover:There's an antique shop on the edge of downtown St.Paul and the lady has a Kiss. The thing's a beast and she's asking 5 grand. That left me asking "did she hit her head"?
A place down on 7th had a home version of "Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy" in their window a few months back. Never even bothered going in to see the price though.
Quoted from MustangPaul:Down a block or two west of the Xcel Center? I have a complete mint pf for that game.
Further down - it was in a consignment shop by the Brewery. It's not there anymore.
I've seen that playfield at Lloyd's before at a circus. It's really cool, but I wouldn't have a clue what to do with that other than hang it on a wall.
Speaking of beer...
In case anyone is interested in what is (IMHO) a pretty great poster and didn't notice the thread.

Well crap. That sucks.
If D&G or anyone is out money for the shirts - I'd still buy one. Kinda cool to have a shirt for an event that didn't take place. MN pinball inside joke of sorts.
Plus I'd claim that I won the tourney. By a lot. It really wasn't even close.
Quoted from tonymiddendorf:For some reason, my 2 million on Whitewater wasn't good enough to get me out of the first round!
12 million on Whitewater won't get you out of round 3 either....
In part, you need the balls (literally and, um, pinbally?) to abort your multiballs until you're at a higher gear. The difference in points between a 3rd gear multiball and 6th gear is pretty big if I'm not mistaken.
Sadly, I'm not good enough at the table to risk it, and end up taking the multiball when and if I can.
Quoted from TheBrewhouse:Looking to buy a Popeye machine in the Twin Cities area. Thanks
https://pinside.com/pinball/market/ad/18202
Absolutely no idea who this is, but an ad for a Striker Xtreme hit CL recently. Looks like a private seller(?), with a Popeye sitting next to it in the picture. Long shot but maybe?
Quoted from animesuperj:TSPP color dmd installed and ready for MGC! All that's left is a quick cleaning and the pins (TSPP and Twister) are ready to go. Moving onto getting Badcats cleaned up next.

Someone please misplace $400 outside my apartment door please.
Quoted from LesManley:I thought of you WI guys when I dropped this bomb on the Mustang on route that we play in league here last night. This was a fun game...
Two times through Drift and one Silverball Stampede. Only one gear 6 multiball and the super jackpot was doubled and was 175 million. Played Gears 3-6 Multiballs plus another Gear 3 MB, 4 Burnout Multiballs, 1 Mustang Multiball and 2 Upgrade Multiballs. I was on my last letter for another Mustang Multiball too.IMAG2791.jpg (Click image to enlarge)
Dear Tony,
Reset this unholy score post haste.
Quoted from MustangPaul:You ARE NOT going to play my Mustang.
Checking your list, I wouldn't let him near your Getaway or Nascar either. You should probably ground the Space Shuttle if John comes over, and might even need to close down the Roller Coaster just to be safe.
(Congrats on that Mustang score, John. That's insane.)
Quoted from LesManley:Dammit! I hate losing by 1 point! I knew I need one more sling hit! Oh well, back to the drawing board...
I'm not good with a manual transmission. You get single points for grinding gears.
Bad bad weekend to have to complete both freelance work as well as some things I had to bring home from regular work. Sigh.
Quoted from s1500:What's better than your gf into pinball?
Your girlfriend buying you pinball.
Quoted from jonogo:$$SOLD$$ 3 - Pinball Flipper Bat custom made "in between" tables. Correct height to be below the flipper button in between pins. About as wide as 2 beer bottles and a little longer than a lockdown bar. $75obo each. $$SOLD$$
image-10.jpg
I had to read that three times before I realized what you actually sold. Just stupidly staring at my monitor wondering why you had made custom flipper bats twice as wide as a beer bottle. Also wondering when a beer bottle became a standard unit of measurement for a flipper, and why in the Hell someone decided to buy them.
I am so smrt.
Quoted from jonogo:Drunkeness has its perks.
I realized after I posted that beer bottle measurement system was not quite standardized.
Oh it makes sense now. But if you ignore the whole "He's talking about a table" part - it sounds like the strangest non-sensical mod ever.
Check out my new flipper bats! They're two beers wide, as long as a lock down bar, and they come up to the below the flipper buttons!

ESP Bootcamp?
I'd be happy to lend my knowledge. Workshops include:
Collecting 5M on 50M monster fish.
Power draining on Mustang. (Workshop ends before you can react.)
How to almost finish video mode level one on Johnny Mnemonic.
Out swear the South Park table like a champ.
Shaking the Klingon Empire a little too hard.
Perfecting TWD's "Exit the pop bumpers STDM" drain.
Early registrations gain entry to my special seminar - "I meant to do that, and I don't like Demo Man anyway."
See you there!
Stopped by ESP yesterday with a friend from Seattle that was in town. Felt strange taking pics of terrible scores, but will be submitting some later today.
Finally pulled a 100M gear six super jackpot on Mustang too. Any attempt to pretend that I did that all the time likely failed as I was giggling like a 5 year old.
Quoted from iloveplywood:Maybe not the right thread for this, but I live in Madison, WI and I've been thinking about getting a pin for awhile (finally moved into the new house) and I keep hearing how no one should pay MSRP for a new Stern. I've been considering a Star Trek pro or maybe a Walking Dead machine but the prices seem pretty fixed everywhere I look. Do people just email a few dealers and tell them what they're looking for and bargain? Is there a range I should be aiming below the list price that most people are paying? I don't need to get the absolute best price or anything, but I don't want to pay 1K more than I need to either. Just as a hypothetical I see around $5400 as the standard price for a Star Trek Pro, is this way over what one should actually pay to a dealer for the machine?
Distributors aren't allowed to post their actual prices online. It's even frowned upon to post the prices you're quoted in threads.
Basically - call around dealers for quotes. Others here will be far better informed as far as suggesting particular distributors.
Quoted from LesManley:Just a reminder guys that this is tonight. Basically a preview night for Pinball on a Stick at the MN State Fair. $10 to enter and all the money goes to the JDRF charity. All games on free play the entire night. No tournaments, but there is a fun high score contest on Wrestlemania that qualifies for the WWE King of the Ring event if you are interested in that. It should be a great time for a good cause.

Quoted from rollitover:Long as we're on the subject, can my seventeen year old son join me at Mortimer's? Or is it 21+ only?
Thanks
Someone already answered, so I'm just gonna mention that your pinball initials are pretty cool.
Bought a new car and looking for an excuse to drive. Girlfriend and I are road tripping over to Milwaukee for the weekend in two weeks - 18th and 19th. Gonna catch the Reds and Brewers battle for the NL Central cellar for sure, but looking for other things to do. Any decent spots to play a few tables? Staying at the downtown Hampton Inn for what it's worth.
If I can work lunch in Madison into the drive out (or back) I'll try. Girlfriend's BS meter is gonna hit 11 when I suggest lunch at a bowling alley though.
Thanks for the Milwaukee recs. Checked the pinball map, but just don't know about condition and upkeep.
Excellent - thanks again to everyone.
Google shows Ian's right around a half mile from the hotel we'll be staying in.
And yeah - hard to get Pooley's even closer to the highway. Might try to swing that as well.
Quoted from AlexF:Anyone traveling from the Minneapolis area to Madison area in the near future? I've got an EM up there that could use a lift.
Check your PMs. Might be able to assist depending on a few things.
Stopped in Madison on the way home from Milwaukee today. Stopped at Pooley's, but sports bar on a Sunday.... what the Hell. No hurry to get home, so we headed to Schwoegler's instead. Big fat thumbs up to Whysnow. Great lineup, and all the tables in great shape.
Plus it was the first time I've gotten to play an AMH. Had heard it was good, but always thought it looks a bit strange. Damn thing is fun as can be. Call outs were cracking me up like an idiot.
Quoted from roffels:Spoke to John, find him a tspp and maybe he'll trade his Whitewater.
Oh yeah?
Quoted from roffels:He won't. He's interested in trading for Simpsons or the Williams Indiana Jones.
Yeah, definitely. We both thought you wouldn't be interested. He may add cash on top depending on condition and all that.
I'm not quite there to be honest. Haven't been playing much lately, but I can't trade it just yet.
I enjoy playing the Fire! at Blainebrook, but it's in such a dark corner I couldn't begin to tell what condition the plastics are in, playfield wear, etc.
Quoted from RustyLizard:I have my room. I hope no one brings anything for sale that I want.
My insurance policy is driving a car too small to fit a machine.
Quoted from TomGWI:What's the top earner? Just Curious.
Tony can confirm, but I believe WOZ has ruled the roost since he got it.

I am gonna stomp around on those tables barefoot for half price all weekend. Thanks, Tony!
Well work today seems to be a game of "Who can leave the earliest without anyone noticing." May be over there this afternoon as well.
Quoted from LesManley:I don't have time. Currently I am "look up on line there is much write up about this on."
Wording is terrible and makes it look fake. A reverse image search comes up empty though, so appears to actually have real images. Or at least they found some well hidden ones to use.
Quoted from LesManley:They open at 10am tomorrow. Lineup is...
The Machine: Bride of Pin-bot (Williams, 1991)
Which is running the Bride 2.0 mod.
Quoted from NightTrain:Awesome. Thank you! Now to see if I can get away from the wife and kid tomorrow morning for a few hours....
Alternatively there's a tourney tomorrow at 2:00 over at East Side Pinball at Sun Ray if you're interested.
Wait. If Metallica is in Gringos now, what took it's place at Caffetto's? Whitewater?
VVVV - Didn't think to check it. Thanks.
Quoted from roffels:Had a fun time! Didn't put any time in on the pinball games but it was good all the same. Got to hang out with friends and take in the atmosphere.
You forgot the part where you were afraid to enter the tourney.
Quoted from Friengineer:I listed my Sinbad over the weekend. It works but needs a coin door wire re-run(haven't got to it yet). The cabinet isn't great, has pascal, leds though. $750
https://pinside.com/pinball/market/ad/35670
Speaking of which - I can now join the "close but no cigar on Craigslist" club.
The $150 Sinbad from today's CL was being loaded up into someone's car as I pulled into the seller's driveway. Missed it by 20 or so minutes. Congrats on what looked to be a pretty damn clean Sinbad if you're on here. Hope it was just a fuse.
Quoted from hotwheelerguy:Ha, I probably could've gotten that one. Saw it right as it was posted. I decided against it because I'm out of room and the backglass had a lot of paint gone. Playfield looked great though...
I didn't want to look like a lunatic, so I didn't get that close, but yeah. Backglass clearly had issues, but the side of the cabinet that I saw looked great, and the lower half of the playfield looked pretty clean. Enjoy your bargain, mystery dude.
Stupid 20 minutes.
Quoted from LesManley:Maybe we can start a thread to see who got it and then have people chime in to talk about how they tried to screw him out of it by telling the seller it was worth way more and offering more $$$.
Now I'm wishing it had been Ben loading it into his car.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:holy crap. We didn't get anything like that down here.
Didn't seem like we got anything like that just a few miles south - down on West 7th. Storms are weird.
Quoted from precisionk:So been a year or two since I unloaded my last pinball due to space. Now that I am in my new house, have plenty of space for a new machine. Looking for local opinions on GoT. How deep is the game play? Pro or le? Love the theme and wasn't aware they came out with it(have been out of the scene).
There's a premium on location at Blainbrook. Pro models at East Side and Mortimer's.
Considering the difference in price, I would definitely suggest playing both before buying. Count me for team pro.
Quoted from Badamack:did anybody go to flippin with the greats at bobby and steves in minneapolis today?
i was too late to enter, but, it looked like fun.
my first introduction to pingolf.
Ben, are you here? thanks for the explanation.
Adam.
Was there. EMs roughed me up something fierce and sent me packing to the B bracket. Then they were nicer to me and I took the bracket.
Main tourney winner passed on the main prize so I got to explain to the girlfriend how and why I was coming home with this beast for coming in ninth place.
Quoted from MustangPaul:WOW! You got that for 9th Place? Why did he turn it down? I love the Double Diamond slot. Does it work?
Winner of the main tournament (Does he post here those that know who it is? I'd say who, but it seems strange to name him myself without his knowledge.) already has a slot and said he didn't feel like explaining another to his wife so he decided on one of the other prizes instead.
Even though winning the loser's bracket was really just 9th place, I got the next pick for winning the loser's bracket. So yeah - best 9th place trophy ever.
Works like a charm. Went through some basic operations stuff with one of the FWTG guys before we loaded it up into my car. Only downside I can see is that it's a ticket redemption model, so no cool coin avalanche when you win. No real idea what I'm gonna do with it long term though. It's cool, but it's huge.
Quoted from MustangPaul:Man that's cool, I wish I could have gone.
If I remember the dates right, the next Flipping with the Greats tourney is set for December 4th, at Bobby and Steves again.
Winning bid from a 0 feedback account. Could be a shill bid to protect themselves from a price they didn't like.
Quoted from TomGWI:Anyone know the person selling the WOF on Minneapolis craigslist?
Yeah - it's been on CL multiple times in the last few months. Started (I think) at 3500. Was on ebay at one point, and now back on CL most recently at $2700.
Don't think the CL ads mention it, but it's a reimport.
Quoted from barkerlake:Looks like they've moved some pins around. I hope they worked on the Funhouse..it needed some love.
There was a post on the Blainbrook pinball Facebook page about FH in early December. I think it was taken out, shopped, and brought back. Don't know what was done to it, nor when you last played it of course.
Quoted from policano:Thanks for stopping by and for your input!
I've decided to pretend that this is about the CL ad.
This Fall, on HBO...... "Sun Ray After Dark."
Quoted from LesManley:Keenan's Bar in St. Paul has a Baywatch.
http://pinballmap.com/twincities/?by_location_id=3347
Whoa. 3 blocks or so from home. Was T3 the last time I was in.
Quoted from EmLover1970:I might have to check that out.
Since I've lived nearby they've had:
Indiana Jones (Stern)
X-Files
T3
and now Baywatch.
I've never gone and had the machines be unplayable, but there's typically been a thing or two annoying going on. Can't imagine it's the operator's bread and butter location.
Around Mort's level of dive barishness.
If you're in the neighborhood though - check "The Spot" on Randolph. Cool as Hell little neighborhood bar with a single table. Tilts set tighter than they should be, but I've never had issues with the machines working. Party Zone there the last time I went on election night.
edit - pinball map says Party Zone out of order as of Nov. 11th. No idea if that's still the case.
Speaking of EMs for sale - I'm in the market. (And while I'm in the "Spanish Eyes" has awesome artwork camp, it's a bit far distance wise.)
So - any EMs you want to sell - say within say 2 hours of the twin cities?
Don't have any particular titles in mind - I'm more concerned with whether it's fun to bang around on.
Things I would prefer but aren't deal breakers:
2 or 4 player game preferred, or add-a-ball though I understand most of those were 1 player.
Drop targets - the more the better. Specifically if the banks reset upon being completed.
At least one spinner.
Players condition fine - as long as it's fully working.
PM me with what you have if you're interested thanks.
edit - Lordloss suggested checking Pinball Warehouse, which had completely slipped my mind. Will likely check it out this weekend.
Quoted from EmLover1970:It can be murder to have to play against Ben, John, Luke, Terry, Adam at every MN event.
Add yourself in there. Life as a MN B lister is rough.
100% not the same place as Mort's.
http://tiltpinballbar.com/games/
List of games appears to be a mix of some that are currently at Mort's, Caffetto and the Nomad as well as some others. (Man oh man, that Meteor.)
I assume there will be some serious shuffling going on, but as far as I've heard both places are definitely still remaining open and full of D&G machines. Haven't seen anything about the last Sunday of the month tournament moving to Tilt, but no biggie if so.
(Have heard that the monthly tourney at the Nomad is ending, though I don't know if there will still be tables there or now.)
Well they ran out of Spotted Cow on tap by mid Saturday or so. I'd swear a few hours earlier than last year.
My other totally scientific theory states that there had to have been roughly 2,000,000 in there to get that game hall that hot, but the whole weather/HVAC thing might be a better explanation for that.
Quoted from DG_Amuse:What is that?! Not mine. The extent of my mods:
Pretty please John?
Quoted from CaptainNeo:what happens when you set something in the pop holes? does it fall into the bar base?
Bar top gobble holes. Fits the theme of the bar and increases profit margins.
Quoted from Fezmid:Ahh, good point. I kept looking over at the machine, hoping they had a tech on site that would look into it so I could walk over and try to learn some more troubleshooting techniques since I've only owned a machine (T2) for a couple of months, but no such luck.
The operator - John - is part owner of the bar and is on site a lot. If you didn't - please do bring up any oddity you notice. If he's there he'll typically jump on it immediately.
Quoted from LTG:New Cheese Pump for the pinball events.
LTG : )
Bringing back the Circus??
Quoted from Fezmid:I live in the east metro, so I don't get to Tilt much, and now that East Side is gone, there's a dearth of convenient playing areas that I'm aware of.
Per Tony last night - He'll have a Lord of the Rings and Dr. Who back in the bar area at Sun Ray soon. Not the same, but it's something.
Quoted from Fezmid:Anyone know if Mortimer's in Minneapolis still has the MET LE on-site? I want to try one out before I decide if I'm going to buy one myself. I'll try to get out there tomorrow if they do. Thanks!
According to the pinball map - yeah.
https://pinballmap.com/minnesota/?by_location_id=3352
Quoted from Jason_Jehosaphat:Local retail sources for Novus cleaners/polishers?
Hi.
Can I buy bottles of Novus 1 and 2 off the shelf anywhere in the Twin Cities, or must I buy them online?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Rather random, but I picked some up locally at The Container Store in Edina.
Pinball map says
AC/DC (Pro) (Vault Edition) (Stern, 2017)
Aerosmith (Pro) (Stern, 2017)
Ghostbusters (Pro) (Stern, 2016)
South Park (Sega, 1999)
Star Wars (Pro) (Stern, 2017)
Quoted from J-Freeze:So who's trying to snipe me on that cyclone?
Wasn’t me, but damn.
Just saw the re-list at twice the price.
Quoted from Bohdi:Both pins are now sold. Thanks to everyone who inquired on them. He sold them to a neighbor rather than stay in touch w/me
Well that's anti-climactic.
Part of the issue with South Park is that they made it so early in the show's run. All of the call outs are things that you've heard a billion times even without the pinball machine.
Quoted from LTG:Fast. People have cash and vehicle and apps on their phones to alert them. They can rock and roll in seconds.
LTG : )
Yep. I get email notices of new ads on CL but for the most part, if you don't see it until CL generates the email - you're already too late. The better the deal, the more true it is. Someone somewhere is manually searching CL right now. If it's a good deal and you're not the first to see the ad (And you better have cash ready and be able to get in the car immediately) then you're just tied for last with everyone else.
Then of course if it's a really good deal, you've got to hope that other people don't offer more money, or that the seller doesn't care and honors their original price. It's a crap shoot at best.
Quoted from LesManley:As of mid-January 2019 though Gameworks is going to start operating them themselves I believe, so if you think they have problems now...just wait.
The mind boggles.
Quoted from LTG:I had one of my customers tell me if you put $100 on it you get more games. Which might be worth looking into and a better deal if you go there a lot.
A week old, but this is definitely true. If you're just there for lunch and buy a $5 card, you're paying too much for a game of pinball.
The games take 5.5 "credits" for a single game. Swiping a second time gets you 3 games for 11 "credits"
I've decided $50 is my "If I buy a larger card than this I'll question my sanity" point. A $50 card gets you 350 credits.
A little math later:
350 credits / (11 credits / 3 games) and you're at 95 games for $50. Approaching the 50 cents a game level, which is pretty nice for modern Sterns.
And as John mentioned - the replay levels at SPT are set pretty low. (And I think the match might actually be set at over 10%.) Additionally, they're set to bottom the replay level back out after just a few bad games. I'm a decent but not great player, and multiple times I've gone to play, swiped my card twice for three games, and then proceeded to play 10+ games for those 11 credits. The only downside to things that I can see is that I'll go to play some games and end up playing the same table for an hour straight cause it just keeps popping replays and matches.
Quoted from ChrisS:And now that it’s been talked about, it will be changed.
“The first rule of fight club is you don’t talk about fight club.”
Whoops. Loose lips sink ships. Ships and replay levels.
The Beatles machine at Blainbrook was set to 6 credits for a dollar the entire time it was there. Apparently the operator (Someone other than Donny who owns a majority of the machines there) knew and didn't care.
Trip report for Saint Paul's other new(ish) place to play location pinball.
The Ox Cart in lowertown.
Similar to Saint Paul Tap in ways. Arcade/Bar with 5 pinballs. Uses cards instead of quarters or tokens. Went to have a couple drinks and play pinball before an anniversary dinner (My wife's idea, I swear.) this past weekend. Same situation - in order to get the cost per game down to where you're used to, you need to buy a larger card.
Games were 5 credits apiece.
$5 gets you 20 credits. $10 gets you 40. No bonus credits until $20 gets you 100.
I don't get down there often enough to justify buying a larger card, so we just paid $10 for what comes out to 8 games. Over the standard $1/game but not the end of the world.
The good:
Walked up to the machines and there were 3 credits on Aerosmith already and another on Deadpool. There you go. We're under a buck a game.
Replay levels seemed low - Aerosmith knocked a replay on the first game at around 15M. Not really sure how fast that bottoms back out though.
Five machine lineup - four newer Stern pros : Aerosmith, Deadpool, Munsters and Star Wars, as well as Sopranos.
The bad:
It's loud. The machines may as well have the sound off. The bar isn't that big and everything is essentially in one big room. The machines are basically 10 feet from the bar. Big thumbs up the Saint Paul Tap's layout in comparison.
Not sure who the operator is, but of the three machines we played - two had issues. 2 balls stuck in Aerosmith's elevator. No way to lock balls towards that multiball, and while you can still abort toybox multiballs up to level 6, you still just get four balls. Perfectly playable, but annoying if you know what's going on. Worse, the drop target in front of the boat ramp on Sopranos wouldn't fully go down. No way to lock balls, as the top third or so of the drop was sticking up and acting like a ramp, sending any shot that would normally go up the ramp flying off in whatever direction it felt like.
I HATE AIR HOCKEY. They have some monsterous square air hockey table that allows four people to play at once. I shudder to think of the tink tink tink tink tink tink noise that that thing makes. It was out of order though.
Despite my grumpy old man act, I'd still give it a thumbs up. It's not going to be your new favorite place to play if you live on the East side, but it's still a bar with five pinballs. Basically across the street from CHS field, so great for a little pre-Saints game pinball / drinks if you're in the mood.
Quoted from pingull:Hi Everyone. I am reducing my collection and have posted several nice machines (EM and modern) in the Pinside Marketplace, with more to follow. I am in Woodbury, MN (east of St. Paul) and prefer local pickup. I just wanted to give a heads-up to folks on the Minnesota-Wisconsin Thread.

I know the listed selection had seemed to dwindle over the past year+ or so, but now there's not even en EM section at all. Anyone know if Al has just stopped bothering with EMs entirely?
Quoted from ChrisPINk25:I haven't been there in awhile, but they usually have several project EMs out. They don't list the projects in inventory.
See the next response.
Quoted from Dragon:yeah I see that now that the EM's are no longer listed , they were the only dealer that had a separate list for the EM's from the rest of the machines on their website.
I could be wrong
I wasn't that clear, but this is what I meant. Previously, there was a separate page on the site that listed EMs. It would list the handful of EMs that you could play in the showroom, as well as others that weren't out on the floor. (The one pin I bought there was an EM that Al had to take up upstairs to see, after sufficiently convincing him that I wasn't just tire kicking.) The list got considerably shorter over the past year and a half I'd say - now it's just gone. Just wondering if they're even bothering with them anymore. Can't imagine the profit margins on EMs are that great for him.
Quoted from isJ:I have seen people dump on Al online based on his attitude.
I wanna hear Al call up PBR and talk to Steve after forgetting his customer number.
Quoted from Dragon:reading the review for BK3 Caucasian2Step talks about the premium being what this game needs with the second level even though it is a simple feature , it gets 3 more balls and another trajectory for the ball . I don't know of many pro models that i would want to buy i tend to overlook them in listings and instead i'm more enamored with the premium models it often seems more of a complete game , how valid is this thought to you? pro vs premium
If you haven't played them - there's an LE at Tilt and a Premium up at Blainbrook.
I guess I do prefer them a bit over the pro, but not enough to really make me like the game that much. Certainly not one I'd ever buy. The upper playfield makes them seem more like a Black Knight game for sure. I do like the lock mechanism in the upper playfield, and there's a sudden death / extend your game feature who's name escapes me right now that is pretty cool when you trigger it. Mostly I find the upper playfield to just slow down the game a bit though, pace wise as well as giving you that feeling of being a little safe as long as the ball is up there. Can't lose your ball slamming it off the light lock stand up if it's on the upper playfield, etc.
Quoted from bernieberg:Last Chance. Kind of a fun feature if it happens to you, not so much when you see it happen to someone you thought you had beat in league or tournament play. Ha.
Amen. Been on both sides of that one.
If someone else gets it - just hope that they repeatedly try to flip at each ball instead of taking a single shot. Plunge -> take one shot at the lock. If you make it - great. If not just let it drain and plunge again. So much easier to extend the game when you do it that way.
Quoted from LTG:Sorry for the misunderstanding.
No.
LTG : )
The far better answer was "So was I."
A rare swing and miss, Lloyd.
Quoted from LesManley:Such a good game, good luck with the search, they don't come up locally that often.
I know a guy in Woodbury with one, but I don't think he wants to sell it.
Quoted from Krupps4:Just curious. Why “Beatnik Filmstar”? I have a lot of interest in Kerouac and beat culture.
Boring truth - it's just a band name. I like them and always thought it was a cool turn of phrase. Have used variations of it for logins all over the internet for years. (Then they got back together for a bit and I felt a little weird.)
Quoted from joetechbob:Thanks. I'll PM you.
John, sell your game please. I feel like a jerk now. (Moreso than normal.)
Quoted from RustyLizard:Is it the new thing to no longer have your location listed?
Just updated mine.
Quoted from LTG:Same game as in K Bid's auction. 4 hours or so to go and at $206.
Somebody trying to make a fast buck if they get it ?
LTG : )
Was thinking more along the lines of "My auction isn't going as well as I hoped - maybe I can find a last second sucker on CL." myself.
But the idea of someone thinking they're going to flip a non working flipperless woodrail for quick money is equally entertaining I suppose.
Looking for either a Game of Thrones or Deadpool. Premium preferred for either, though pro considered depending on price/location.
Open to roadtripping - not limited to the twin cities.
Edit - huh. my heart went gray. Off to fix that.
Quoted from isJ:Looking for a Mousin' Around or Bad Cats if anybody has a lead ping me, thanks.
There's a guy currently getting shit on non stop for listing an 8k Bad Cats in a few facebook groups.....
Doubt that's what you had in mind though.
Quoted from isJ:Lol. No. I would like to pay a sensible price for a game that I am going to get as a gift for somebody, thanks for the chuckle though
That's a heck of a gift.
Quoted from northvibe:I mean....8k and no info pics, except a decent cab with chrome? ehhhh gonna have to prove that 8k... for a single ball sys11
It honestly does looks nice, but come the Hell on. If you're charging HEP prices - you better come with gigs of photos. It's the most expected pile on I've seen in a while.
Quoted from northvibe:What was it?
Free Dirty Harry. Though the "Text or phone call only" part made the cynic in me assume it was just someone blowing someone's phone up. Congrats to whoever got it if it was real.
Quoted from NightTrain:Anyone know any where I could find a Star Wars Premium or LE on route in the Twin Cities area? I think I'm going to order one NIB and just want to throw a few plays on it first.
Or even better...just sell me your premium or LE!
Pinball map says there's an LE at Sisyphus.
https://pinballmap.com/map?utf8=%E2%9C%93&by_location_id=8315&by_location_name=Sisyphus+Brewing
I assume this is a D&G route location?
Quoted from precisionk:Have family who is clearing out some stuff and have a Ship Ahoy for sale. From what I can tell from the one pic I have, body looks alright and the backglass/playfield look really good. Not powering on I believe, 2nd owner of it. I am out of state and haven't seen it in person. If any interest, PM me. I believe it is in St. Paul.
Been wanting an add-a-ball with novelty mode for a while, but no room right now.
Quoted from LesManley:It will be turned on. Since it's the first game with that included, I bet they didn't think to set it up. I'll do that tomorrow if it hasn't already been done by then. Thanks for letting me know!
Thanks John. Curious how the app/site will display stats played on multiple LEs in different locations.
Quoted from raindog151:hey all,
my family and i are MN transplants. if anyone has a meetup or novice league within driving distance of Roseville, i would love to learn more. if there's a better thread i should poke in, please let me know.
thanks!
There's also (more or less) weekly tournaments on Wednesday nights at Blainebrook. 7:00 starts, all skill levels welcome etc etc. Posts with details typically made day of in the Pin Cities FB group.
Quoted from pinwhoo:Thanks. I’ll let him know.
The other is the 2nd Sat of each month. Qualifying games start at 11:00. Tourney at 3:00.
