Just wondering who has found parts that were considered "unobtainium" or super hard to find.

I was lucky to get these in the mail today, and with everything going on it sure was a bright spot in the recent weeks!

I've managed to pick up a few red Bally logo lane guides over the years but what I really need are the white ones. Don't know why nobody is reproducing them.

Someone is finally making a small run of 3D printed of skill shot spinners for Police Force. At the moment 3 are available but he plans to do more.

I have a TMNT ramp. No, it’s not for sale

I wonder if guys buying newer games now are doing what I always did:

    1) Buy a game either NIB (seven of mine were NIB) or used less than three years old (ten of mine were purchased this way).
    2) Immediately go through the game's manual and write down the part numbers of unique parts that might break or wear.
    3) Place an order for those unique parts through a distributor of that manufacturer's games.
    4) When they come in stick them in a box on a shelf for when you might need them in the future.

I used to spend at least a couple hundred per game on spare parts just to have them. Always a complete set of playfield plastics, but the other unique parts varied from game to game. But this is why I have things like an OEM hologram and extra lagoon plastics for CFTBL, two main elevator ramps for W?D, extra crate doors and multiple pairs of slingshot plastics for SS, and spare ramps + planes + ruins + idol for IJ. I also have a wide variety of targets (including the green ones for AFM), a few circuit boards unique to various games and lots of other spare parts.

Any Pinsiders doing that (immediately look up part numbers and order them as soon as you buy a new game) these days?

    #10 1 year ago

yes have done that in the past, even had a CFTBL Slide wireform ramp as it was up for grabs and was going to use for a homebrew now just sits there, have a full set of CFTBL plastics and spare playfield window for the one day rebuild....

all the parts to build a extra "Rudy" head assembly

    #14 1 year ago

I was able to buy a NOS head decal for a Big Bang Bar from an interesting collector. Was a very difficult deal. Don’t regret it at all!!!

Yes more Rudy parts would be nice to see.
I have made the jaw link so far....still available but not seen much. I have also made the Geneva gear system along with metal bracket for tz gumball machine so you can pretty much make whole new gumball machine now. One day I’ll try and get some more Rudy parts done.

Several years ago I acquired a Stern Viper with a glass that was peeling in huge chunks, had pretty much given up all hope, when a near mint one came up on Ebay, buy it now, I don't think I've ever hit a button so fast as that one!! Haven't seen another one for sale since, although they might be reproing them.

Nice. By the way, you don't have enough games on your wish list.

Found a set of NOS stage doors for PBM, actually purchased from the games designer ...

Recently found a NOS complete (except the rope lights) DE ST ramp for a friend, and it was under 200.

YEARS ago, before poeple were making new ramps, I found a NOS HS ramp at a pinball show. I was offered 200 and a dozen NY bagels overnighted from NYC.

I bought a whole plastic set from Brian and his PM game.

I just recently trimmed it up! It’s more a list of “games I need to play/have unique features” since there’s literally thousands and thousands of pinball machine title’s out there. My wishlist all the most interesting games that I genuinely want some day. I hope to be able to buy and sell games to rotate through them all...

only issue is after this first batch, there’s already none I want to sell

I chased those for months. Finally got 2 sets.

How about the opposite scenario? you find those hard to find parts and you paid a mint for, and then someone produces them?

While taking inventory of pinball parts during work hiatus, found a whole tube of SC-01 IC's. And a whole bunch of magnet coils for Bally/Williams machines. Forgot I had them, and where they were.
    So much for getting old.

In February of 2009 I was able to find an NOS decal for my WH2O topper. That was 11 years ago and they were nearly impossible to find back then and still are today.

Finally found and bought a NOS rotor for my Orbitor 1
Talk about unobtainium. I didn’t know they actually briefly offered replacements from the factory before they closed.

Took two years but a small hoard of nos alvin g flipper bats. The head two head ones are available but not the ones for normal pins. Large sized shaft coupled with a modern bat design means there are no subsitutes available.
