Hey pinside,

Looking for your thoughts on this one. HS Getaway II. I lost all power to column 6, J1376. When testing, it looked liken Q93 was stuck open and would need replacing. After removing the boarding and giving it a once over, I find a fresh burn mark and the trace to that transitory slot is no longer a complete circuit. This is only my second transistor issue so I'm still novice. I can imagine the transistor failing and causing this kind of damage. I'm thinking this has to be a voltage spike or a previously damaged spot on the board.

Thoughts, opinions? And one doing board work in the RI/Boston area?

I would check to see if you have any over-fusing on the machine. This shouldn't happen at the board level. Or, it looks like a previous hack from someone who did overfuse. The hack has failed over time. Personally I'd check the associated fuses and re-hack it with solder. Possibly an easy fix. Do a good job and it will last for years.

As far as repairs go this one is relatively straightforward. Check the fuses like Tranquilize says, if the donut around the center transistor leg isn't damaged you can just tack a short piece of solid core wire with the insulation stripped off to replace the trace or just bridge with solder and it will likely last a long time.
