Hoping someone with a United Ball Bowler can help. Looking to buy some leds as a gift and I know the back box are takes mainly #44 bulbs.

Any idea why kind of bulbs are above the pins?
I think they look like 7watt night light bulbs. Maybe a #63 or #89?

    Quoted from wayner:

Which United bowler? There are no bulbs above the pins on the pin deck of my Tropics-just a fluoro.

It’s a United bonus bowling alley.

    Quoted from Mopar:

Yes, #63 bulbs were common on many United bowlers.
Like many others, I use #47 bulbs in the head. They're
a little cooler on the glass than the 44s..

Interesting, I called stl ball bowler and they made no mention of using 47’s. But yes the main reason for the swap is what the bulbs are starting to do to the glass.
They also said there is no led equivalent for the lighting above the pins. Doesn’t sound right. They do look like the little night light bulbs or candle bulbs.
I think there are a couple bulbs behind the glass that aren’t 44/47. They are more round and I think behind the frames area.

Thanks for the help, trying to get these for my dad as a gift.

    Quoted from Mopar:

Yea, those round bulbs are older bulbs. When I go through a machine I put in
all new bulbs. The thing with older bulbs, before some are just ready to burn out,
they get hot. Very hot!, so I replace them all..
The 63s is what I now use. I think it was 81s that use to be easy to get, but 63s
are about the same. Maybe 81s were a little brighter, but to be truthful, I now usually
convert the pin deck sockets to 110V Christmas Tree sockets and use the clear
Christmas light bulbs then run it's circuit with the ball lifts motor circuitry so when the
ball lift's not running (on Game Over), the pin deck lights turn off. Saves on electric
    and bulbs..
Yes, for the most part, #47 bulbs are pretty much the norm over #44s. When buying
#47s, I buy 1,000 at a time to get a better price. Makes it a little easier on the pocket
    when changing them all out..

So you thinking 47’s and 63’s should cover the whole machine?

    I know I need 70 - 47’s for the backbox alone.

    Quoted from Mopar:

Yea, as far as the bayonet style bulbs, the 47s and 63s should do the trick..
I get my bulbs from Amusement Plus in Rochester. Ordering 1,000 I get a
little better price, but not sure if there would be a discount if ordering 100

Now you have me thinking the bulbs above the pins may not be bayonet style. I honestly can’t remember.
I know for certain the majority are 47’s but there are like 4-5 odd ones behind the glass that are different.

Looks like standard night light bulb. 7watt.

Is there an led version that would be suitable without replacing the socket?

    Quoted from Mopar:

Yea, those are the standard Christmas style light bulbs I now usually use for
the pin deck. 3 for a buck at the dollar store, but like Bill said, they very possibly
may come led which is a wise move when placing behind the bg..

Here is a pic of the two I’m not sure about above the pins.

Any reason I can’t simply use a warm white Stern style #63 flasher bulb where those big round bulbs are on pin deck?

    Something like this

Comet and Cointaker both seem to have these in a warm white.
