Unidentified parts on system 11 board

Hello all, my friend and I are trying to fix a switch problem on my Road Kings. We pulled the MPU board and found what possibly looks like add-on diodes to the backside of the board. The picture of the top side of the board is to show the corresponding area on the topside of the board.

Does anyone know if and why they would have been added and what their purpose is?

No LEDs anywhere in the game, all incadescent
