    Hello Pinsiders...

My son & I enjoy doing the best we can at reconditioning our games.

    Recently, we've discussed purchasing an Ultrasonic Cleaner. However, it's almost overwhelming on all the options to consider;

    Watts 200 / 300 / 400 / 500 / 600+

    Size: 5Liter / 10L / 15L /30L

    Temperature control / ranges

    Number of Transducers

    Physical Size of Machine

Basket Size: how long / how wide / how deep

    Push buttons or turn buttons

    Noise Level

    Accessories

    Price

    Ratings / Reviews

    Yes... There's more to consider

Any thoughts on the best 2-3 machines, for the best overall value?

    Thanks for your input!

If you are not using one professionally, I’d just worry about the size. I have two: a large one (15L I think) and a smaller one (3L). I tend to use the smaller one more as I primarily am doing smaller parts.

I don’t recall what features are offered, but I just wanted all stainless steel and a heater. The 15L has a valve for draining. I would recommend a valve on a larger one since it’s more difficult to dump out, but not too hard if it didn’t have a valve.

I just bought from “the bay” and haven’t had any issues YMMV.

    Thanks guys for chiming in.

Atari_Daze... I didn't know about the other thread, I'll dive into that. I see it's many pages, so I'm sure I'll get some good info there.

Lamprey... The drain value was another one of those "options" to consider.

I do think I'll be leaning towards min. 10-15L, 400-500W and spending ~$250-$300 for one. I've reconditioned many games, but never took the parts into a deep clean, other than a vibrating tumbler for 2-3 days.

    Thanks again for the tips.

I was shopping for one today too. I ordered the 15L Vevor “upgraded” unit off of Amazon along with some hanging baskets for small parts. Should have it in a week or so. I noticed that its reviews on Amazon are a little misleading (not all of the reviews are based on the 15L unit). I’m planning to use 50/50 Mean Green and water.

My experience with my new Vevor 15L ultrasonic cleaner ($166 on Amazon): It cleans well. I ran the star posts for 5 minutes at about 50 degrees celsius and they look like new. Some metal parts, like ramp gates and non-deeply-rusted posts came out shiny. Screws with fine threads don’t seem to get super clean even after 60 minutes in a fine mesh hanging basket. Maybe it’s the solution I’m using (Mean Green and water) or maybe it’s just better to buy new screws. Aside from that, my only complaint is that the built-in temperature sensor is useless. They must have mounted it too far from the liquid it’s supposed to be measuring. You really need to use an infrared thermometer to see the actual temperature of the solution (the liquid heats up way faster than what the internal sensor tells you). This particular machine is made in China.

    Quoted from Paul_from_Gilroy:

I’m planning to use 50/50 Mean Green and water.

I use purple “simple green.” Empty gallon jug. Add 20oz of purple simple green and the rest water. Rinse off the parts afterwards. Cleans plastic parts really well.
