I agree with you there. Kids don't belong in bars!

I’ve got two younger kids and would never take them to a bar. Damn, you’d have to be pretty low to drag your kids somewhere while you drink. Now, a restaurant with a bar, I’ll do that during the daytime if we are there for a meal. But that’s the end of it.

And yes, my kids are mouthy and basically a pain in the ass. But, they get disciplined. I’m not a fan of physical punishment though. But it seems that taking away their Nintendo is more devastating than an ass whopping anyhow.

I got saved by a shoe. Got into an argument with my fiancée and she hit on the head with it.

the secret Vasectomy is clearly the best option, then just wonder in amazement with your lady why you cant put a baby in her and refuse to go to see a specialist and tell her its her fault.

I feel im just giving out life lessons today. because i Love you guys and i care about your future!

Yep, thanks to Boomers and their BS-everyone-gets-a-trophy and his-shoeslaces-were-tied-too-tight-as-a-young-man-so-his-murder-spree-was-justified, and no one gets left behind in anything, and we are all winners, and just cause we disagree doesn't make either of us wrong on objective things like math, etc.
Millennials that suck as parents are a product of their upbringing and their environments. You tend to become the company you keep.
Hence, I don't have children and I mostly stay to myself/at home.
I'm great at parties too and a ray of sunshine.

Ultimately, Boomers are the ones to blame for the decline of a society that took 200 years to create. However, it's the Gen Xers that held the gun and fired the shot. What you see now running around the Hall of Fame is the 2nd Gen of dipshits. Just like old industrial cities, the decay only spreads.

Idiocracy is now in full effect. I went to a small beer festival last year. They had a local punk/ heavy metal band play thru the entire event. It was a real good time except for the handful of idiots who brought their children and let them run wild while they drank. One couple had a very young child in a stroller who cried and screamed for 2 hours nonstop. I think I’d probably scream and cry if exposed to a loud metal band while my parents drank all afternoon. I was talking loudly over the music and said to my wife what kind of parent would bring a rug monkey to an event like this? Another stranger nearby overheard me and said ones who don’t let their kids get in the way of their drinking!!!

The rules say no running. Your kids ran. Staff reminded them of the rules and consequences.... and somehow this is the staff's fault?
You, not the staff and not your kids, are the problem.

If you let them run and break the rules, someone will inevitably slip/ fall and possibly get hurt. Then you will hear from an attorney at the law firm Dewey Cheatem and Howe. Hell even if they don’t get hurt there’s a chance you may hear from an attorney for some BS reason. Little Sucy hit her head on a pinball machine. It wasn’t hardcore punk, grindcore or whatever they call some of the newer metal ,it was mostly 80’s classics that most people would know from the radio. Black Sabbath, Ramones, Ratt, the Clash, the Misfits, ETC.

Oh okay. I’m back in. But I’m gonna drink too. It would be unbearable being there with my parents drinking. Haha. They got divorced when I was 3, and I’m not sure how they were ever able to stand each other. Haha

Why is it that every other pinball establishment seems to be able to handle families with kids in a tactful and effective manner? PHOF seems to have a major problem with this aspect of dealing with the public. I've heard stories of adults without children being hassled as well. I love pinball, but if I were ever to visit Vegas again, I think I'd avoid that place.

I took my kids everywhere my wife and I would go. We didn’t change our lifestyle for kids.

White tablecloth restaurants, breweries, bars, dive bars, airplanes, pinball bars, camping, ballgames, you name it.

They learned appropriate behavior early and often. They may not be the brightest bulbs, but they know how to act in public. No electronics required.

They also knew I kept ”my bitch hand strong.”

Noid - I would have personally escorted you and you kids out if you treated my employees like that. You are the parents every business owner hates.

Sorry, but I'm a guy who's just about as old as f, I'm tired of today's parents thinking their kids and dogs should accompany them everywhere. Get a babysitter and quit being cheap. For one evening ,leave the kids at home and treat your wife like she's your wife, and not like the mother of your kids. She'll appreciate it. I was in a restaurant, where there was a wait to be seated. The Dad couldn't deal with that, so he went to the bar, with his kids, and he sat and drank, while his kids stood next to him. POS parenting.

No, I think it’s the numbers. PHOF gets huge attendance. You only hear of the problems so the % is actually really good.

We have 4 bad reviews at our place, 3 from the same party. Entitled parents didn’t want to pay for pinball for their kids( but were happy to spend $8 a beer) and after 3 warnings we asked them to leave. So I’m the A-hole because I have to be the bad cop.

I disagree. They let all of the shit happen because they were making money, drinking, and concerned over their shit shows in the 70's and 80's. Then then became the tools of others. They were the first to put their own interests ahead of their children, and their country.

Out of all of the generations in America, it will be the Baby Boomers that will do down as history and the most worthless. Will we bounce back?

    Nope.

    Nope.

My late brother was an early baby boomer, a Marine, and a Vietnam veteran. He loved and served his country, and knew how to raise his children. I'm a later boomer, and my mother-in-law used to flinch because of the way I disciplined my sons when they were young. They turned out to be respectful and responsible adults. Most others of my generation and slightly older, raised great children.

    Absolutely

Not all of them, but a majority

Kids are going to act with however much they can push and get away with. Human nature. Parents today are afraid to hurt a child's feelings in the name of this whole woke, safe spaces and time out society that is using electronic media to raise their children.
My wife and I went to a mid to higher level Italian restaurant on Sat to celebrate her Birthday. Next to us party of 4 with two children, maybe 8 & 18 months gets seated next to us. The youngest, while not unruly, squealed, yelled a bit and was loud. Parents only tool to work with the child was to put a tablet in front of her, with the volume turned up playing children's shows. I am having a nice dinner with my wife and here is Old McDonalds farm and the 1-2-3 songs. Fucking moron Millennial parents that have no clue how to handle AND teach MANNERS and disturb everyone else. Go to fucking Olive Garden you pricks.

Exactly! I enjoy my downvotes on this one, I’m 26, but raised by my grandmother and older foster parents. She would be considered the “Silent Generation” or “Traditionalist”.
The YOUNGEST Baby Boomers are almost 60, and the oldest boomers are 77 right now.
Gen X however, consists of people in the mid 40s and 50s. Most the people having young kids right now are the Millennials and some of older Gen Z (also called Zillennials).

All this complaining about Baby Boomers for the past 10 years seem to forget how old Baby Boomers actually are?? Majority of the time someone is bitching about Boomers, they actually mean Gen X and don’t realize it. Gen X did a shit job raising Millennials and now everything sucks.
A striking amount of these grown-ass adults in their 40s and 50s have absolutely no concept of personal responsibility and are still blaming their parents. It’s just laughable.

Grandma and Grandpa aren’t the reason your kids are horribly misbehaved, it’s YOU. If you are a Gen Xer or Millennial and are saying “well not MY kids” then perhaps it’s time to do some self reflection. Tim is grumpy, but I challenge you to watch kids literally hanging off plungers all day and not pop a blood vessel

The real reason PHOF sucks isn’t because Tim is a dick, it’s because he’s too cheap to spend anything on a reasonable repair budget, and he insists on micromanaging the shit out of that place. He clearly has made it work for him, but now pinball is back, and he’s gotta learn how to delegate and give the power to repair to his volunteers. It’s free labor dangnabbit!!

I agree with that but I also love that guy Tim’s approach of I don’t give a fuck it’s my place

    #73 1 year ago

Tim wants his patrons to control their behavior but he should also learn how to regulate his own responses in turn. I certainly don’t know him, but I’ve seen him wildly overreact to a minor offense, and I’ve also read many different accounts of similar behavior. People always rush to his defense in these threads and they turn into the damnation of an entire generation of children, but maybe Tim is also just kind of a jerk who should control himself better as well? If he can’t control it he should get someone else on the floor to help with customers.

Or don’t. It’s his business to do as he pleases. He’s a big figure in this hobby who is due respect, but when the complaints continue maybe that means Tim has some culpability instead of just solely the lazy parents and bratty kids.

Half right... their manner may or may not be tactful but it is definitely effective.

There is a sign with rules. There is no requirement for staff to be nice to rulebreakers. Hell, any additional warning instead of immediately tossing them could be considered tactful.

    Quoted from Miguel351:

Probably a dude that got kicked out because his kids were loud, obnoxious, and were harming the machines somehow and the dad saw no problem with it. Then, when Tim asked them to leave, he probably threw a fit like the little five year old he really is and this is his "revenge".

So would that makes his kids more mature than him?

Look...virtually everybody here is middle-aged to ancient. And what do middle-aged to ancient people do?

Bitch about everybody younger than they are. That's just how it works.

When I see kids today, my faith in humanity is restored. They are much kinder and more thoughtful than any of my peers were at their ages or are now. They call out racial discrimination and LGBTQ bashing. My sons’ high school friends volunteer at food banks and family courts, build solar powered boats and run marathons.

And when I have taken them to pinball shows or museums, they have respected the machines and other players (gracious winners).

Just seems a shame that we seem to have lost the ability to differentiate between kids being excited and hopping and skipping (maybe moving quicker than old middle aged men do) to play arcades and pins and those that run around like wild wolves screaming and kicking and generally pouting over everything...

...it really doesn't help when parents have the mentality of "don't look, speak or any other way engage with my children or with me about my perfect offspring or I'll kill you".

    Tough times eh?

As a kid in the 1960's attending Catholic school discipline was quick and harsh. The nuns didn't take shit at all. A 3 sided metal ruler across the hand was common. If you went home and complained it was worse for pissing off the nun. I learned quickly to keep my mouth shut and follow the rules. Believe me it worked.

Today that's called child abuse. Worked well on me and I'm a better man because of it.

So your solution to "these kids/shitty parents today" is send them all to a 1960s Catholic school?

Hell no. Different era that is long gone. But I raised my to daughter to actually hear the word "No" and not coddle her. Plenty of crying but I never physically disciplined her but she learned how to behave and respect her elders just the same.

Fast story...when my kids were young i had a 5 gallon paint stir stick that had many coats on it....when they misbehaved they got a swat......then weeks later when were being crab asses got the option to go to bed early or get the paint stick. they choose early bedtime every time.

I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so I decided to go to Morganville which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So, I tied an onion to my belt which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel. And in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say. Now, where were we? Oh, yeah!
