All I know is that I have to be in Houston for work Monday and Tuesday and I came close to switching my flight and arriving Saturday to attend the show and see TBL. Imagine If I had done that for the nice Delta Airlines $350.00 change fee. I'd be pissed right now.

At least from there I go to SoCal and will stay an extra day to attend an EM pin event there.

Hopefully I can stop in at the new Nickel City San Diego by MCAS Miramar too. It will always be NAS Miramar to me.

#352 8 years ago
Quoted from RTR:

I would have volunteered to be their temporary Spokesdude for the Houston show.

can you cuss when speaking to crowds ?

#353 8 years ago

Bottom line is they could have told us in these last emails and they did not. Just showing up with the games would have shown stability even if they felt they could not do a presentation . Packed lines to play explaining bad English would have flown. Not showing makes a big statement and they have to know this. Not showing last minute and not mentioning it in all these emails makes a bigger one!
I cancelled plans when I heard about Phil but I almost spent 600 to go. Thank god or I would have bought a ticket to the Netherlands!!

Ha! You and I did the same thing! I was going to have to change a bunch of plans to make it but I was so excited to see TBL and meet the DP guys.

That would have soured the whole show for me, though no fault of the Houston guys. Hoping DP gets the communication thing worked out.

So NOW who's bailing?

Quoted from labnip:

The supreme court has roundly rejected prior restraint, so f@&k yeah!

#358 8 years ago

Canceling Houston is not cool, although if it is connected to Phil's unplanned departure, maybe it couldn't be avoided.

I really was thinking about visiting a client down that way...

ok, you're hired

It's not a coincidence that he quit right before the show. Something must have really pissed him off for him to do that. This was obviously an abrupt departure that took the rest of the team by surprise. The rest of the team at DP wanted to force something on him but Phil was insulted by it. Using the f-bomb in his farewell letter must mean something.

Houston isn't "that bad"

Who needs soap operas when we have Pinside?

Do you think it was the rugpissers?

It was however a coincidence that the Dutch Pinball Open was right before the Houston show one imagines.

Oh my gawd, Pinside, have you no shame?

#367 8 years ago

Oh, Pinside!

Or was it you know who.......?

#369 8 years ago

It was connected to Phil leaving. Obviously he was the "face" of the company at a show like Houston, and they won't be able to make this one work... Bad timing, and they know it more than anyone...

So.... Pacifism is not something to hide behind, and well... something very cool on the way.

#370 8 years ago
Quoted from tracelifter:

Ya those rugpissers... they might have something to do with this. Phil must have hated to see them piss on the rug. It was his idea to include the rug as a bonus in the first place. We're through the looking glass here people.

#371 8 years ago

More like " mark it zero!".

#372 8 years ago

He aint Dutch, DP can miss him.

I heard that at expo Phil really pulled the room together did he not?
It was his rug and they pissed on it.

#379 8 years ago

From what I have read here people really wanted a "Phil" pinball machine.

#380 8 years ago

I'd buy a Phil pinball!

Just received another New Shit Newsletter...

November 6, 2014 - Show update edition

As most of you VIPs know, it has been a very busy 3 weeks for the Dutch Pinball team.

Our trip to Chicago was more than we could ever imagine. A special thanks to the organizers of Pinball Expo and Terry from Pinball life. We brought Prototypes 1, 2 and 3, experienced long lines all day, and hosted VIP parties that even the Dude himself would have been proud of. It was a great experience for the team to meet new and old VIPs face to face.

Next stop was the Dutch Pinball Open on November 1st and 2nd. We brought Prototypes 4 and 5 ready and playable (From the data we collected in Chicago, we produced new subways to eliminate ball jams.). The team welcomed a couple of Dutch TV stations who filmed and conducted interviews with Barry and Jaap.

Dutch Pinball Abides

After overwhelming interest in TBL over the past 3 weeks, we are even more committed to making TBL the epic game we know it will be.

With the recent changes to the team, the success of TBL at both Expos, and our commitment to ship the BOP 2.0 kits out, we will not be attending the Houston Pinball Show. With hundreds of hours of data collected, we will be spending that time to focus on improving and developing the game further.

Another VIP party! Am I wrong?

Nope, you're not wrong. As a VIP we wanted you to have another opportunity to experience TBL. We have partnered with Modern Pinball in NYC for an official Dutch Pinball TBL Party. Dates will be December 12th and 13th and all VIPs will be invited. Keep an eye on your e-mail. More details will come soon.

Dutch Pinball Team Update

As many of you know, Phil has departed for other adventures; he was a valuable member of our team throughout this project, and we wish him continued success in his future endeavors. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at [email protected]

We received a few questions on whether Phil’s departure will have an effect on the timeline of the project. The answer is no, not at all.

I can get you a T.

Some people didn't receive their T-shirt yet. We had some difficulties with the system we used for that. If you didn’t receive your T, please send your size (L, XL or XXL) to [email protected] and we will send it as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Team Dutch Pinball

I wonder how many ppl chickened out and requested a refund?

#386 8 years ago

That was a solid email, that's the kind of communication I was hoping for.

My only complaint is the shirt sizes, I'm a skinny dude, and I like my shirts to fit. I'm not gonna bother sending my size, because I honestly won't wear a large.

Throw it in the dryer a few times and I am sure it will shrink to fit.

No need, already heard from Barry, he's gonna hook me up with a medium.

They can skip Houston all they want if it means they have time to be this on top of the details!

#389 8 years ago

I'm very happy with the latest email. I preordered a few days before expo, but wasn't there to meet the team or go to the parties. I was impressed with what I had seen on here from people who did attend. The first email I received other than my order confirmation was the one from Phil and it did cause some concern and then I heard about the Houston show. I'm fairly new to the hobby and haven't done the preorder thing before now. I don't expect everything to go exactly as planned, but with so much money tied up it's hard not to worry a little. TBL is a dream theme for my husband and it's the only way I was able to convince him that we need another pin, so I'm not going to cancel over someone quitting and a show cancellation. I just hope that future communication is more like what we received today. (I was also a little disappointed in the shirt sizes, but I figure I'll give it to my husband or sleep in it.)

#390 8 years ago

I'm a sucker for a party so feeling good and planning on being in NY on the 12th.

#391 8 years ago
Quoted from LITZ:

If they did over Phil's departure and missing the houston show I don't think they would of made it till April anyway / they were looking for an excuse after they got in for the wrong reasons

#392 8 years ago

This is music to my ears! DP is a new company but they already sound like pro's!
Keep up the good work and the communication Dudes

No need to be disappointed on the shirt sizes...I feel confident that DP will abide...

I emailed them today about what/if anything is going on with the TBLselfie contest.. I honestly wouldn't mind if they just extended it till end of year or something, allowed everyone to get their tshirts and posted apparently some of the ones that never got posted anyway to the facebook. Maybe have some official "VIP" voting mechanism vs everyone on facebook (I am guilty of my friends of friends liking it). Or drop it all together if it's just too complicated. I'd really like a pre-production play field though..

I haven't had a New Shit since July 10. How many have I missed?

I would send an e-mail to [email protected] Seems like they are trying to straighten up the e-mail system, getting everyone accounted for, as well as getting the T-shirts straightened out.

#400 8 years ago

Thanks - I already did. Since I made several requests (including putting me back on the NSN mailing list) I didn't want to additionally burden them with sending me back-issues of the NSN. Something tells me they might have their hands full right now...
