You can access nearly every lamp from the underside of the playfield. Just remove the screws and pull out the sockets. What I mean by nearly is the upper playfield may pose a problem but I think they can still be reached.

I might be misunderstanding you but the whirlpool is on the lower playfield. I installed LEDs on location so I think you can get to all of those without tearing anything down.
Edit: Oh, you mean the controlled lamps. You will need to remove the lower subway and unscrew that light board, much easier than removing the upper playfield.
