I'm having an issue I haven't seen before and thought I'd ask before I go nuts trying to track down an answer. I have a TZ whose system clock only runs when the game is on. It keeps the memory fine, new batteries. The game keeps the system time when shut off and starts up from there when turned back on but it doesn't advance when the game is turned off.

Anyone know which chip advances the system time and (if I'm lucky) what pin I could check to see if it's getting battery voltage?

Thanks!

Does the RAM chip store current system time? Then the ASIC advances it? Would the RAM getting battery power and the ASIC not cause this?

Bad ASIC socket, not getting battery voltage.

Gotta love Pinside, thanks Borygard!
