It doesn't happen often but consider the possibility of a weak coil.
My divertor would just sit the and hum every 5th or so activation. I checked coil solder connections, reseated ribbon cables and board power/grounds. Also checked resistance of the coil vs a new one which were the same. Eventually put the new coil in as a hopefully last ditch effort and it's been working great since. I put the old coil in another machine's knocker and it just hummed when activated.
