My TZ just started having an issue that, when the ball is in the upper playfield, pushing the right flipper button ends the mode (I get the laugh and the magnets quit working). It doesn't seem to be a sensor issue; I can bounce the ball around as much as I want (by hand) and everything is fine. Left flipper/magnet also works with no problem. This only seems to happen during normal battle the power, not during powerball multiball or lost in the zone.
Any ideas?
In Powerball Multiball or LITZ, the magnets do not turn off after it sees a ball leave the powerfield, like it does on Battle.
So you cant compare the two like that.
Go into single switches test mode, select the bottom pf switch, and hit flippers. See if you hear or see a flicker.
Likely you have a cold solder on an opto, or a loose crimp in moles, or weak opto, or a wire is loose.
Wheb you go into Battle, are your flippers active?
The good news is it's fixed. The top opto was closing and I hadn't thought to check that. Both screws were loose, so it was misaligned, so it was an easy fix.
But...I don't understand why that opto would end the mode. It seems like it should just score points each time it closes. When I ran the ball around with my hands, that's what happened. But when I tried to control the ball with the magnets, it ended the mode. At any rate, the problem is gone, but any insight into the behavior would be appreciated.
