Hello all! The extra ball button by plunger has a light in it that flashes when its time to push it. The red wire that powers it has a diode on it. I think it is 1n4004????It has broken off at the base so there is no wire left to solder back on terminal. The light lights just fine in test mode without diode. Is the diode really needed here? I am thinking thats a dumb question as it wouldnt be there otherwise. They have them at Pinball Life for .07 each. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Looks like it's #87 on the lamp matrix, so yes. It needs a diode.

yes

No. The diode should be on the coin door interface board.

Some switch assys came with a diode on the button as well (compatibility with earlier games) but it never hurt having two on the circuit. Note that you lost one, you still have one on the matrix - on the interface board, so you should be fine. (*Should* be, because who knows what has been fine to your game at some point..!)

I think TwilightZone uses the (older) A-14689 Coindoor-Interface-Board and has only 1 lamp ROW connection with diode (RED-GRY).
So for the buy-in button lamp, it needs a 2nd (RED-VIO) line with extra diode. Both are connected to Yel-Gry.

Aaah, you may be right. I may be thinking of the later -S boards that had the extra diodes in it.

Okay, ignore what I said then.
