Are the original 10 opto switch board’s worth fixing or should I just replace this thing with the redesign?

My TZ will for no apparent reason just get the "Ball Popper Opto stuck" error, I’ll turn it off, wait an hour, turn it on and all will be fine for a day....then "ball popper opto stuck" and the cycle continues.

I've searched for ground shorts, loose wires, bad solder joints, bad connectors and can't find a problem. I know the opto's are ok because like I said, if I wait a hour all is fine and I can play 2,3,4 hours straight without a problem.

It's very random and extremely annoying.

Well....TZ officially hates me now.

I swapped out bad optos on the ball popper entrance to the gumball machine but it didn't fix the issue. I read a couple other online posts about bad LM339's on the opto board and decided to just buy the updated opto board that had the led diagnostic lights on it.

That board is now installed and all the red and green diagnostic lights are solid, none are out or flashing to indicate a problem. I thought I'd be ok because when I turned on the machine on it passed all tests..... But nope.

I start a game and immediately notice the flippers are very weak and when I "hold" the upper flippers just chatter and flap....

I checked the fuses, cleaned the flipper optos, and reseated the connections....nothing...
