Today I got an error that says that row 6 is shorting on the switch matrix. I found that if I hold a finger to break the lower playfield opto the row would work. Does this mean the opto is the cause? I noticed that when the ground and the power for the opto touch it would trigger all the switches in the row. Is it safe to assume that replacing the blue E K reciever board would fix the problem or is there something else I should also be checking?

Yes. as well as list off the switches that are failing on the row

Also its the only switch that triggers the others. When the opto is triggered it registers as if nothing broke the beam

is it something thats fixable or should I replace?

I will be getting in touch with you soon. One question. I covered the opto with some card stock and taped over the hole. The short went away and the switch works (i'm guessing its somehow limiting the beam's strength) it seems weird that its working with no problem covered. Are you sure it's the opto board still?
