which would you rather have?

TZ is top three for me. Might just be the best pinball ever made...I sure wish Pat Lawlor would design a game again soon.

Landslide time. I own a TOM, and it's ok. Nice flow, but gets old IMO.

#4 11 years ago

Its kinda like golf , do you enjoy the long drive or the par 3 course.

#5 11 years ago

TOM for me.

Love the art package, sound, and flow. Used to own it and WILL get her back. Trunk is a challenging enough shot (for me,lol), 2 different multiballs, plenty of illusions to conquer along with the Midnight Madness which if not careful can drain straight down the middle. Love the trap door and the added magna save.

Enough in the game to keep you coming back. Go for TOM

These two pins shouldn't be in the same poll together. TZ crushes TOM within 10 seconds of the first round.

Totally disagree ,two great but different pins.

I didn't say I did not like TOM just, that these two are not in the same league. Here is the breakdown (my opinion).

Theme - TZ
Features (toys) - TZ
cabinet art - TOM
playfield art - TZ
Rules - TZ
Music/Sound - TZ (even though its Pre DCS, I think TZ is better)
Callouts - TZ
Wizard - TZ
Flow - TOM

LOL, have you played TOM? I'm guessing no if you are even considering it over a TZ

I'll take thumbs down for this post, but it needs to be said/resaid, TOM is extremely overrated.

I don't really have a big disagreement with you, but I gave you a thumbs down. Didn't want you to be disappointed.

A little off imo...
Theme - TOM
Features (toys) - TZ/TOM (Both have equally interesting toys)
cabinet art - TOM
playfield art - TOM
Rules - TZ
Music/Sound - TOM (By far! The organ is x1000000 more atmospheric. The callout voices are about equal in talent though)
Callouts - TZ
Wizard - TZ (Yeah, TOM's wizard mode sucks)
Flow - TOM

I own both and TZ wins by a landslide!

#14 11 years ago

Had both. TZ is sorely missed.

#15 11 years ago

Owned both, kept neither. Very different pins.

TOM is flashy, colorful, fast, and fun for your average person that doesn't play pinball 24/7. My wife loved the pin, but it got boring for me.

TZ is a much more challenging pin with a lot more to do. IMO you need to be a fan of the show to really enjoy the pin, and you need to have some skills!

If TOM had an actual wizard mode and complete hardware this might be closer. No spinning tiger saw, pop-up center post, or other features made the final game. And TOM's wizard mode is atrocious. I was shocked when I first reached Grand Finale and it wasn't even a multiball mode.

TOM needs its own Cactus Canyon Continued for Grand Finale.

Since I don't like TZ, that leaves ToM as my pick by default.

I love TZ it is the only pin I own so maybe I am not being fair to TOM?
