TZ error message says ball popper opto stuck, clock broken and flippers stopped working. All these issues happened at the same time. Had a good look around and nothing popped out at me. Any suggestions where to look for the issue or what the problem could be.

Power driver board, check opto power test point. See if it low or missing. Then check it's fuse and then bridge rectifier.

Thanks LTG can you be more specific about those recommendations, I am not so good at fixing pins but will give it my best effort.

Power driver board has metal studs sticking up. Marked TP for test point, and then markings like 5V for 5 volt, 12V for 12 volts, etc.

Meter set to DC, one lead to ground, the other touch each test point. Good practice and you'll learn a little.

I might add the 50V will test higher not under load. 12V is for your optos.

Ok I tested all the test points and got no reading on TP5, ???

Fuse blown ? ( pull and check with a meter ) Bridge Rectifier bad ?

Any idea what fuse to look for? How to test for bad BR?

Yes. Check the fuse chart in your manual. Do that first. Pull and check fuse first.

To check the bridge rectifier you'll need to pull the board out and check the bridge rectifier with a meter, diode setting if your meter has one.

Thanks LTG, I spent a bit of time last night checking fuses and finally found one that was blown. Just need to get a new one and see if it fixes the issues.

#11 8 years ago

Changed the blown fuse and the only thing that changed was the lights were on the clock. still having no flippers, broken clock and stuck opto. How do I check the BR and what number BR should I be checking, and how do you test the BR? Reloaded the gumball machine and it said to check the auto popper.

#12 8 years ago

Did the new fuse blow ? Do you have correct voltage at TP5 ?

LTG : )™

#13 8 years ago

I will check, thanks

#14 8 years ago

no voltage at TP5 and fuse was good

#15 8 years ago

Then pulling the board out and checking the bridge rectifier is next.

Youtube has lots of short how to videos.

Yours is likely open, not shorted.

TP5 = Ground and has no fuse or bridge !

#18 8 years ago

Any Idea what components or what BR is related to TP 5?

#19 8 years ago

Well I put the board back in last night after checking almost every wire I could. Ensured that there were no loose wires in any of the connectors, pushed them in the connector with a very small screw driver. Many of them pushed in a little bit. Also noticed that the wire 1 going into J101 pushed in quite a bit and the plastic connector had signs of over heating on that wire. Powered up TZ and no errors!!! Back in action, thanks for the advice guys.

Just to wrap up this thread, and maybe the OP will mark it as "Solved", the reason for this series of problems is fuse F116 blown. Top, left hand side of the Power Driver board. As with a lot of blown fuses it looked fine but the meter said otherwise. In post #11 he said a fuse only solved a "light" issue but that must have been another problem with his pin.
