Hey i was playing my TZ last night and then noticed that the high scores had been reset with the exception of the grand champ and LITZ champ. I am wondering how that could of happened without doing it on purpose? Is there a way of getting them back? One thing if for sure I am going to start keeping a record of high scores from now on.

Batteries are dead

No way of getting them back. Weird that it would maintain two high scores.

Could be caused by power glitch, bad batteries or memory problems. Make sure all the socketed chips on the CPU are well seated.

Anyone else in the house that might want to clear the high scores? I have a buddy who would do this to me all the time.

Oh, wait...it just occurred to me. There's a setting on Williams games to reset every n games. TZ is A4.09.

Check that setting.

Batteries were replaced two weeks ago, no one in the house has access to do that. The strange thing is it happened during a play session. I will check the CPU and make sure it is seated well.

It's a setting. You can set it so it resets high scores after x amount of games.

You can set it so it resets high scores except GC score.

If the batteries were dead all high scores and settings would reset.

Edit - someone beat me to it.

Really after so many games? where in the settings is that one?

Yep. Set it to "never"

I replaced my batteries on all my old Williams/Bally machines with the anyPin NVRAM board. Love those things I never have to worry about batteries again

If you don't have soldering skills I don't recommend you try it yourself.
You can get them from a number of distributors. Pinballlife has them.

thanks guys going to set it to never

This happened on a buddy's Theater of Magic too. It had been in tournaments and some pretty epic scores were lost. One of the first things I do is set new pins for "never" resetting high scores if they have the option.

On the plus side, now is the perfect time to upgrade to nvram.

You'd lose your scores doing the nvram upgrade anyway, why not take this opportunity to get rid of batteries forever (before you start putting up some scores again).
