I was playing my TZ and went to change the volume mid-game. As soon as I pressed the volume button, the display died immediately. Up until that point the display was working 100%. I don't have access to any other machines to transfer the display to for testing if its the display itself or more internal. Due to the immediate breakdown it would seem like something "blew" but I don't know where to start looking.

Little Context: This machine was purchased off-route from a guy who has a reputation for some "creative" wiring and work-arounds. I don't know if you're supposed to be able to open the door during play and still make changes on the fly.

It shouldn't have done that if you only opened the coin door to change the volume. Could be a loose connector somewhere. Start jostling things around to find the problem connection. Did you notice if they game also rebooted when you did this?

Game off, try reseating the ribbon cables at both ends as well as the power cable at the back of the DMD as well as the two connections on the bottom of the display driver. Just pull 1/2 way up and push back down. Turn the game back on and see if that helps.

Without another display driver or DMD to swap out, it's a bit harder to isolate the issue. 9 times out of 10 it's the high voltage section at the bottom of the display driver. It gets hot, burns traces and components get out of spec.

I reseated the ribbon and connectors directly on the DMD when it first died without success.
But after the suggestions, I reseated the other ends and it fixed it! Should have thought of it in the first place, but at least its resolved.
Thanks for the tips.
