Well, 5 years ago my TZ restoration was nearing completion. Game would play great either 1-2 games or for hours then POOF! Pf solenoids shut down, pf lamps shut off and on, I lose sound and display, all at once. Since I work, ALL THE TIME, I was on vaca this week, time to tackle this...
Decided to find out if flipper voltage was shorting somehow to switch matrix. Found this 1/4 screw ‘holding’ coil case to coil stop. Problem is, I installed this as a new assembly from my supplier like this. At the time I thought nothing of it as it was late at night and I was near the end of soldering assemblies to harnesses with pf on rotisserie.
I’m thinking I finally found the end of Clive rebuilding my cpus and driver boards. ( if I’m right, sorry Clive!).
Looked like U14 and U20 were always the first chips to go whenever the pin randomly stopped. I’m thinking the diverter rod was carrying the high voltage through habitrail.
