Quoted from PeckChan:Hello,
The switch (72) for the auto-kicker keeps randomly flicking from "Closed" to "Open" which wrecks the game play of course.
I have tried cleaning the sensors, which didn't help. I've tried to see if they're miss-aligned, but can't find a position that prevents the issue. I've now replaced the sensors and it's still doing it. I've also re-seated the connectors on the board.
Any ideas what the next steps would be please? I am not very technical, but I can follow orders and do some repairs.
Game is a Bally TZ 1993. I've had it for a couple of years at my office where's it was working fine. I recently brought it back to my house and it worked for one day (about an hour's play) before going wrong.
When putting in Test, it says Clock Is Broken (sometimes, not always) and switch 72 flickers open/closed. Nothing else shows up that i can see.
The machine has no mods except some power board I think as it kept resetting when we first got it.
Battery is removed and fly wire installed. (3 x AA)
Has been kept running on a daily basis as needed by a colleague (on here) who knows what they're doing.
Have ordered a meter and can solder if needed.
Can grab any pics etc.
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Clock is wide open as there are several rebuild / replace kits that have come out over the years and I am not at all sure what is still out there to get - I am certain that someone who owns or has owned TZ since I had mine 20 years ago will chime in here.
For the sensor I might re-flow the solder pads under that connector on the driver board. There is lots of advice out there as to how to do this or you could send the board out to a pro like Clive at Coin-op Cauldron for a complete diagnosis and overhaul if need be. TZ is most certainly worth it if any pin table is.
