To test Switch #57, take all the balls out of the machine and go into switch test mode, then lift the playfield up into the vertical resting position and with one of you metal balls move it over the sensor circuit (see the red arrow in the below picture). If the sensor switch is working, the LED on the sensor board should light and the DMD will indicate that switch #57 has been triggered.

When you say that you exchanged the sensor board, do you mean that you took the sensor from a working TZ pinball machine and put it in your machine to eliminate the sensor board being the issue? If you know that the sensor board is working 100% however you are getting intermittent (ie random) triggering of the switch, then try removing and reseating the connector on the sensor board and testing again.

    Quoted from Mistercatapulte:

Another question: does the switch used for the lock have an influence on the activation of the powerball?

Glad to hear that you were able to resolve the issue you were experiencing.

In regards to your question, the game detects (using switches #26 and #57) when the powerball is on the playfield. It is also aware if you shoot the powerball into the lock and keeps tract of the powerball by knowing what position it is in the lock lane, such that when the powerball is released from the lock then powerball mania will be lit

    Quoted from Mistercatapulte:

Yes the setting was of course yes (factory setting).
I just did the test by putting no, I don't have an untimely powerball, already a good point, isn't it?

Actually the factory default setting for A2 26 "No Powerball" is "No" - so just be aware that some of your game settings might not be the factory default
