Clearly, the show wasn’t rehearsed. I feel it lacked professionalism.

It lacked everything, but feels wrong to bitch about it.

Yeah, I guess I pointed out the obvious.

Cringe worthy, had to turn off.

    #54 2 years ago

Id rather watch this than the Oscars…and its not even close. Talk about “cringe worthy.”

Ok so you rather watch this then the most horrifying-ly cringe worthy thing in a decade coming up?

    Strong Praise!

    #56 2 years ago

Listen to me (get it?!), either turn down the fucking mics or tell the talent to pull it back

    Mics down.....PA up...

    Oscar's? Those still a thing?

Umm...yeah they still make motion pictures.

    Sorry....*SPOILERS*

    Tourney stream is great.

    #60 2 years ago

They should go back to pre-recorded.

That was unbearable to watch. Freaking trainwreck.

    Well done and long overdue

    #65 2 years ago

Is there a list of all the winners somewhere?

The only award I cared about was Todd's, and he won!

Todd, Frank, Curt, and even the twins are all great, and Ive loved that goofy channel for near a decade now.

    Glad he finally won.

Agreed, just terrible. The audio was atrocious and the ad hoc mouth noises, unnecessary and very distracting. I tried to fast forward through a handful of awards and finally tuned it off.

The best part of it were the 3D and video effects for the presentations. Next year please hire a competent audio production company and remind the hosts/guests to not put the mic in their mouths while speaking.

    #68 2 years ago

Better audio at a drive thru. Wow.

Oof...That was brutal. First time I ever tapped out. Have watched every TWIPY ceremony and look forward to them each year.

    I miss Zach & Greg.

I was watching it in person; at least you had the option to fast forward. I think the audio problem stemmed from the fact that the monitors in the hall weren't really that loud, but the feed online was over the top. So I'm not sure they had any idea how bad the streaming audio was because you sometimes couldn't hear what they were saying in the hall. But still...no excuse and they should have had their act together.

Great job, here’s a wrap gift idea for the crew and hosts

Seriously, you don’t need a production company.
You need real IATSE crew, many of us would probably donate time to not have this happen ever again.

    You need

    A gaffer

    A sound engineer

    A video playback person

    2-3 cameras

    A few grips

One set decorator who can bring a podium that isn’t a half baked cheese plate repurposed for a podium

    What a mess!!!

Yes , Todd should have won this years ago and I’m glad to see him and his crew win . I really enjoyed his seminar Friday night and hope he is back for next years.show.

I hate the show is over , but now I can’t wait to get home to watch Todd’s You Tube videos of the show!!!

    #74 2 years ago

The stream was so unpleasant to listen to... cringe. And there was no lack of feedback from YouTube watchers.

Turn the mics down a bit
    Sound is horrible
The audio sounds like it’s in a tube
    Wow their audio really sucks
    There go the microphones
Sound is really low couldn't hear Jerry at all

Hope the show can hire better people next time. In the DFW area there must be dozens if not hundreds of churches with teams that do simultaneous live and streaming A/V every week. The pros are out there.

    #75 2 years ago

I’m interested in more details about why this was such a hot mess.

I mean, not interested enough to actually watch it, but I’ll read a synopsis!

    #76 2 years ago

Aside from the audio etc.. anyone want to see new hosts next year?

    Gross!

Literally the worst part of the show was that guy on stage.

TWIPY award show needs a new venue. Consider New York / Chicago / New Jersey / Las Vegas / Portland / Philadelphia in January. Host it at a pinball location or have a mini show.
After the 2nd time pulling the wrong envelope before the 3D presentation I had to turn it off.

Agree, but with all due respect, it wasn't just the sound issues.

    #83 2 years ago

I'm confused... with all the nominees for each category, why did they only mention 2-3 nominees when presenting?

    #84 2 years ago

Anything live requires a good amount of rehearsal and practice run through as, clearly that wasn’t done here which is a shame, I had to turn it off even after fast forwarding I still couldn’t watch any more, even my daughter said to me “dad what is this rubbish your watching it looks real bad and why is she standing on my brothers potty step” and that’s not ment as a shot at anyone I appreciate all the work that went into the show but that’s an unfiltered opinion from a child who watches a lot of pinball stuff with me.

Much respect to pin2d for keeping his sense of humor and taking criticism on the chin instead of immediately flailing to defend himself, like 90% of people faced with something like this.

We only complain because we want it to be as great as the games being honored. Tall task!

    #86 2 years ago

Serious question, who set up and organized this award show?

Post of the year right here! Pure genius

Can someone just post the results summary?
I tuned in and turned it off quite quickly due to the horrible audio.

Godzilla won a lot of awards (artwork, best overall game, layout, too many to remember)
    Best Streamer: Jack Danger
    Best rookie designer: Jack Danger
    Best podcast: Kaneda
    Best website: Pinside
    Best Youtube channel: TNT Amusements
    Halloween won something, I think?

Because the top three are the ones mentioned at the show.

Initial voting to get the top ten

    Voting on the top ten

Top 3 make the show as nominations.

    Winner is read.

    #93 2 years ago

    Halloween won something, I think?

Halloween won best topper....pretty sure Halloween was the only topper on a new game launch so no competition , and I am assuming they did not concider the Indiana Jones topper, which looks pretty bad ars.

I would love to see the final votes in all the categories to see how close some of these were. Hopefully this information is disclosed at some point

Why did you break the TWIP Trophy during the show?
I know it was a joke, but for me it seemed disrespectful to the whole show and effort you put into it.
Like you where shitting on your own work.

If you mean Franchi...that has a history to it that you may not be familiar with from a previous live TWIPY event (and perceived incorrectly if only seen on the live stream).

I think most in the room understood the humor in it.

It was an extra "prop" trophy, so no actual award was destroyed.
