Quoted from pin2d:
I'm hoping to convince the committee next year that anything TWIP will be ineligible for the TWIPYs! They have outvoted me the last couple years on that tho.
Here's 2 cents for the discussion.
Separate the TWIPYS from TWIP. Sounds crazy I know and you probably don't want to lose control, but if you think about it, the people making the decisions are the voters, not TWIP.
Create a separate body with an independent board of governors that are responsible for the awards. You can chair the board, just be a board member or pass the torch entirely. Keep the name, TWIPYS, this will guarantee that everyone knows who started the awards and provide some richly deserved recognition. Also this format provides for the future of the TWIPYS if and when you can no longer participate.
With this setup TWIP can compete with everyone else. TWIP deserves to be recognized for it contribution to the community, not excluded from recognition.
Or you could just ditch the public participation, nominate and name the winners as decided by TWIP, which is also a good way to go and what is implied by the name anyway. This way you can ignore your hard work to your heart's content.
You are doing a great job TWIP is an excellent news source, resource and all around benefit for the hobby, while the TWIPYS have become an annual tradition that we all look forward to. BRAVO!
