Huge, bold claims in the interview.

Lets see if they can walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

Will be following this story for sure!

Because their system maybe like a Nintendo switch - play different games on same unit.

And reading the interview, maybe choosing your own rules.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

People will rationalize anything.
The fact that they’ve assembled this team of wash ups doesn’t mean the company plan is sound, or the people
They are paying have a firm belief in the company. It doesn’t mean ANYTHING, except that they convinced a bunch of old pinball designers to accept their money.
Sometimes the truth can be sobering.

Times have moved on.

Far more interested in say the next game design by Scott Danesi.

And Keith Elwin.

The old designers have had their time in the sun, time for new blood.

Quoted from Grandnational007:

Hmmmmmm, 3 MG's for sale this week alone...
Me thinks the rumor mill may know something after all...

With a new working MG due to come out this year or next, why wouldn't anyone sell a non working super expensive MG?!

The sweet spot for selling was last year though.

Is it 5 days of nothing now?

Yeah, I know.

Quoted from iceman44:

Isn’t PF swap what Multimorphic does sort of?
And Heighway was theoretically heading in that direction
I can’t see it myself.
Gonna have to swap a pf out every few games when you want to change it up?
I don’t care how easy it is. Doesn’t sound appealing
But that is obviously how they are trying to bring cost down

And can do 5 games a year.

You have 1 machine and curious what your purpose is to remain here? Maybe you should leave? Is there any positive reason you have for being here? If not, go somewhere else

I am guessing Deeproot playfields are some kind of composite material.

So, they can't have all these clear issues.

#4784 1 year ago

I think this game is going to look great.

However, if it isn't coded well, then who cares?

Deeproot haven't got a Lyman or Elwin so wonder who is doing the rules?

So, according to website teaser coming soon?

In response to inquiries, we would like to expound upon our prior statement, "At a minimum, several RAZA prototypes will be available to play at the Houston Arcade Expo." Two early prototypes of Retro Atomic Zombie Adventureland (RAZA) will be at the Houston Arcade Expo on November 15-16, 2019. These prototypes will not have final art, design, or code. Our primary goal is to collect real-world data. There will be a minimal deeproot staff presence only to monitor data and performance of the machine components. We expect to complete engineering and launch early next year. A press release and media qualification form will be forthcoming. We also plan to release a teaser for our second title prior to the Houston Arcade Expo show. This teaser will showcase a level of cinematic animation never before seen with pinball, courtesy of deeproot Studios.

They have promised so much, but delivered nothing.

At the very least they need to show something that creates genuine excitement going forward.

#5406 1 year ago

This is just the beginning.

Enough here to suggest Deeproot will steal significant market share from Stern and JJP.

I like the new speaker panel.

Only thing that looks bad is metal apron with cards on it.

Would prefer some kind of screen printed apron.

No one reads cards anymore and the just look rubbish - just like Stern yellow cards.

#5477 1 year ago
Quoted from o-din:

I'm really looking forward to the demonstration where they take a sledgehammer to this thing.

That would be a bad idea.

A very bad idea.

This prototype has a Mirco playfield......

#5503 1 year ago
Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:

Agreed. Stern is going to get crushed. Raza already looks better than bksor, gotg, Beatles, Munsters.

Agree it looks better.

But the million dollar question - will it play better and be coded as well as Stern games??

#5568 1 year ago
Quoted from o-din:

I read it, and at one point J-Pop mentions-
"Naturally Gottlieb games from the 50’s and 60’s did this well, using seemingly little on the playfield but having great play and flipper shots."
I suppose Gottlieb also invented all those Williams features from the 50s and 60s he likes to use so well.

Gottlieb bossed Williams in the 50's!

Impulse flippers anyone

#5650 1 year ago

Liking the screen and speaker panel more and more.

Deeproot are serious that is for sure.

#5655 1 year ago

Kind of looking like a sequel to AFM - which is a good thing.

If it plays like a B/W game and is coded like a modern Stern, we have a winner.

#5667 1 year ago
Quoted from jimwe5t:

This is hilarious: a new Trojan horse rolls into town with some on lookers fawning all over it. Something smells, as DR investors might be being scammed (For example: DR built an unneeded auditorium, instead of building and selling even their first machine - do like everyone else does and show at a convention and save investor money for building up inventories of something that actually brings in revenue - pinball machines). Some people are giving DR kudos for JPop work done years ago when he had Zidware.
Sure they haven’t taken pinball money yet, so some are giving DR a pass, but what about the poor DR investors??? Their money is being spent like no tomorrow $750,000.00 (DR claimed expenditure figures, not mine) a month and this is all they have to show for years of work??? A machine that DR claims is not the finished version and almost everything on the machine is going to change? Wow, are we expected to believe the Trojan horse is a great gift? Looking at this, causes great concerns. Hope the investors don’t lose out on their hard earned investment monies, because if this is all they have at this point in the business cycle that began 2016/17 and I we’re an investor, I’d be worried big time. Hope what appears to be possible isn’t. Just my opinion from looking at it closer.
DR confirmed game list is JPop titles he began years ago.
(Unless observations are nothing but positive...downvotes)

Investors are capable of making 'big boy' decisions and to do due diligence.

People saying they won't buy a JPOP game due to principles and then they go and play their Ghostbusters.......

#5842 1 year ago

Well, it has potential but the right ramp needs to be makeable.

Shame it has low scoring like JJP games.

Still liking the display but no other wow moments yet!

#5845 1 year ago
Quoted from o-din:

That's what you get for weaning your teeth on Gottlieb.

And getting used to scoring Millions on the woodrails!

On a serious note, I think it is basic psychology that higher scores make people feel better, so they play more.

AFM, looking at you

#5914 1 year ago
Quoted from screaminr:

I love how some people blame normal people , average players for making the game look crap , if it takes someone like Keith Elwin to make the game look good then they're pushing s*** uphill . I'm not saying it's a bad shooting game but just don't judge it on how some people play it .

Surely the absolute basic thing in designing a game is that it shoots well?

Hobbit was ruined by a poorly designed playfield.

Keith is killing it with his designs.

It's an uphill struggle if a game doesn't shoot well from Day 1.

I am still excited about what Deeproot have up their sleeves, but it is disappointing to see rookie errors.

#6089 1 year ago
Quoted from hank527:

Ramp shot is horrible.

It is a design flaw, nothing else to say.

They wanted feedback, they will get it.

Change the ramp. Just looks horrible everytime a ball goes up, and falls back down again.

Doesn't matter how many frickin patents you have, get the basics right and have a game that shoots properly without design flaws.

#6152 1 year ago

The ramp would be so much more fun if it had magnets on it and was metal like HS2.

Never gets old hitting ramp on HS2.

This ramp is already old.

#6300 1 year ago
Quoted from wolfemaaan:

1 word - “Ghostbusters”

While we are in analysis mode, interested to know your thoughts as to how you rate JP a 1/10?

I just don't get it!

#6635 1 year ago

I get what Deeproot are trying to do - evolution rather than revolution.

I hope they produce some great games as much as I like modern Stern's, when was the last great toy they did on a game?

I feel like I am being seduced by code, design and LCD and would also love to have some wow moments with the way balls interact with things on the playfield.

If Deeproot make great games, they will sell, it's that simple.

#6738 1 year ago

Looks more fun in that video.

And there are 4 battles to be coded so it could end up being a pretty cool game.

That said, that right ramp is a design flaw, pure and simple.

It's BS that 'it's meant to roll back'.

Fix that and this game could surprise a lot of people.

#6778 1 year ago
Quoted from razorsedge:

Comp players seem to want their games "clinical"?. For the rest of us I think it is about enjoyment, the fun of the game!. Seems to sum it up from seeing the way things go. Just like a game being a fail only because not every shot can be made from a trap? Wtf?. Might be what some "serious" players want, but always trapping is simply dull to alot of regular pinball players like me, or a spectator.
Comp players can have their cookie cutter sterns, the rest of us might want something a bit more interesting, and challenging, I guess.
People here talk as if the ramp "can't be made" ... clearly it can. Just not from that beloved trap. One of the best things about the ramp imho, forces the clinical to get out of their comfort zone and actually play better. I guess there will always be those stamping their feet, having a little tanty, and refusing to play the game because of the "impossible" ramp shot (for some).
What a joke. Lmao

It's not a joke if it costs them a lot of lost sales.

The customer is always right, even when they are wrong

Quoted from m00nmuppet:

Do other pinball machines have those little dot lights along the side? I'm trying to remember. It makes it look weirdly cheap. And would there be a way to disable the obnoxious gameplay stop-start of the pinbar inputs? Layout is so-so. For a company that was going to eat the competition alive, they're below American Pinball at the moment. Hot Wheels is better than this. However, I thought the female presenter was charmingly enthusiastic.

Dots are because they put pinstadiums on it? Strange decision....

#13564 63 days ago
Quoted from benheck:

Shh! You're not supposed to notice that. Look how awesome the cabinet and backglass look!
Here's hoping future DR games made by real designers can wow us in the with this sweet cabinet AND good gameplay which is all that matters in pinball.
RE: DLC and "Pinball as service" well that's probably how he sold this to investors. Software as service/services is how MS and Apple broke the trillion $ market cap barrier. It's the future way corporations plan to bleed us dry.
Let's face it Pinheads did this to themselves by proving there's nothing too stupid they won't buy. $5k couch pieces, $800 flat plastic toppers, rugs...

Yes, unfortunately pinheads have given the impression they will buy anything.

Beatles at $25000? Two please.

That said, once any manufacturers start with DLC I am permanently out on new games.

#13569 63 days ago
Quoted from ForceFlow:

That's because you need to buy the DLC first

Stern introduced the idea to accompany their JP topper for a whopping $600.

And unfortunately it sold, so what can you do?!

2 weeks later
#13892 49 days ago

I prefer the look of the 'cheap' arcade edition.

Prefer the trim, not having twinkling leds down the side, and the backbox.

Good news if I were a buyer I guess!

#13945 49 days ago

Deeproot have seen that pinheads love to spend money.

Expensive plastic toppers - that will be a $1000 thank you.

Strip of led lights - bargain at $400 plus.

Pinbar is clever as its conditioning players to buy stuff in the game.

Once credit card details are stored, it's a small jump to the world of DLC.

Pinbar: gateway to your daily dopamine hit

#14146 47 days ago
Quoted from benheck:

I think they can sell 300+. But for this much investment you need to be in the thousands.
THEME IS EVERYTHING. If they had showed BTTF in this futuristic cabinet with Delorean like brushed metal people would be vomiting money at them right now. But no. We get (as someone earlier said) John's fever dream tribute to Python Angelo.
If you look at the Zidware bankruptcy filings DR is their largest creditor at nearly half a million. Doesn't take a forensic analyst to see DR bought their debt obligations (game vouchers) in order to become the largest (and only secured) creditor so after bankruptcy DR gets everything.
So that's at minimum half a million spent for a bunch of purple vomit. That's more than Stern's upfront cost to get Star Wars!

Amazing really as BTTF in that cabinet, with the pinbar, would have been THE perfect theme for them to knock it out of the park.

Ah well, there's always good old Ned.
