Quoted from deeproot:

Actually you can thank me for Elvira 3. I’m the one who came up with it back in 2015

Because nobody else had ever thought of making another Elvira pin between 1996 and 2015?

Probably not. It’d take a genius to work that out.

IKR. It must've been the wind blowing and not words coming out of Dennis' mouth way back in 2011.

And probably well before that ...

Quoted from pinball_keefer:

I'd expand upon that to say that probably only Dr. Who and P*p*y* are as dangerous as a blender.

Stick your fingers in a moving Time Expander to experience Dr Who at its finest ...

Quoted from benheck:

Just a daily reminder, Spooky was started with around 50k total investment and the "break even don't go out of business" floor for AMH was 100 units.
Robert spent $20m+ and sold 130.

Didn’t Robert try to buy Spooky Pinball before he started DeepRooters?

I think that was the case ...

Quoted from clempo:

Whizbang Pinball created Whoa Nellie without a production line

From memory, they originally converted 3 old Continental Cafe EMs into the original Whoa Nellies in their home garage.

The production machines were all made by Stern.

Converting a few machines is pretty easy (I’ve done it ..). Making 100s is very hard.

Quoted from iceman44:

There were literally ZERO naysayers at the time. NONE,

Icey old mate! There were plenty of them back then.

I can’t find the original thread (I think it got deleted after you started the second big one?) but there were plenty of posts from folks who knew the work involved in developing a game from scratch … and selling only 13 of them made no financial sense.

Building a whitewood and doing the art is the easy part (I just made a flipping game, with art, from nothing, everything hand made from scratch, in only 2 months). Doing all the software and video assets and sound assets and rules is the real work. Work that was done by the other 20 people who worked at the Williams design department.

Hey - if you remember back then, 99% of the posters thought that JPOP did all the artwork for his pins himself!

Even you doubted it at the time … (found in another 10 year old thread)

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

What is a "ball stepper?" An escalator mech that was slowly going to bring the ball up every time you shoot it?

Yep, that’s what it looks like!

That wouldn’t have been annoying … waiting half an hour for your ball to climb up ...

Quoted from ZNET:

Confessions of a RAZAholic. I'll start.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

Plenty of others haven’t got that far yet.

Quoted from pinballlife:

Here is a quick video walk through of Deeproot as of noon on Wednesday, March 30th. I apologize for the vertical orientation.

Thanks for posting it Terry!

That building is crazy big - it’s built for 200 employees, not 10.

Leasing a complex like that at such an early stage of your companies growth is the height of insanity.

You could do the work they’ve done in a small unit in an industrial park.

Quoted from Miguel351:

Australian Married at First Sight - There was a point where one of the girls said that she was "looking for a root, looking for his root"

Ok - some Aussie translation for you.

“I’m looking for a root” - I am going out on the town to procure sexual intercourse.

“Looking for his root” - he is looking for his girlfriend.

Root = sexual intercourse

His/Her Root = sexual partner

Also see:

C*nt: woman’s private parts

C*nt: a person. Quite often a term of affection.

You could have this sentence:

“He’s going to see his root for a root, c*nt!” - which would be met with smiles all round.
As opposed to getting you shot if you said that to the wrong person in say, Compton.

Funny lot the Australians. Criminals you know. All criminals.
