Quoted from jgentry:

Definitely sounds like the playfields are not going to be made of wood. Otherwise I volunteer to be the official sledgehammer playfield whacker guy.

Why use steel balls on wooden playfield and nit woodened balls on steel playields?

I think that´s freaking cool.. but maybe you have to bolt the legs into the ground ..

Quoted from Rondogg:

Exactly, the lower I have to look on a screen the better. I like this innovation.

so this is why the display belongs into the apron area

#5544 4 years ago

maybe they used something like that as the display

Quoted from epthegeek:

That display is 29" across with the frame. Given the pictures, and the size of a standard Cabinet/Head - that's bigger than what they're using.

Drop the frame

And as i wrote: "something like that" . The street prize for the one i have mentioned is 850 € . Way too expensive for pinball.

Quoted from nwpinball:

On par with Ghostbusters would be something like ET, Back to the Future, Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop, Ferris Bueller, Die Hard and the Karate Kid.

ET, BHC , KK , Ferris are imo not so gooth tjemes for a pinball machine.
Top Gun ->Already done -> Airborne Ranger, F14 ..
BTTF : oh yes, of course. Magnetic tricks wired ramps.. classic JPOP Theme
Die Hard: hmm, simple rules: shoot all therrorists.

a second (mirrored) display in the front is a long overdue improvement. but for gods sake, not this way.

regarding the lockbar they should hire a designer like Luigi Colani

#11158 3 years ago
Quoted from HoakyPoaky:

ALOT to unpack in that article. But this jumped out at me...
"Note that the seal and lockbar on the cabinet lock down into the cabinet and seals/protects the Pinbar from accidental liquid spills"
Looking forward to the demonstration video of Robert pouring a 16oz beer on the glass, then seeing if that touchscreen survives. No working touchscreen = no working game. If I was an operator, that would be a huge concern for me. Sure the screen may be replaceable, but I'm sure it ain't cheap.
From reading all that hype, that Pinbar is the core innovation for their game design. It isn't going anywhere.

Spike 2 Node and CPU Boards are expensive either...

#11333 3 years ago

I do like the lock bar display very much, but as we knew now, this piece (99,9% made in China or Taiwan) is the most important part in their machines.
If it fails, you cant do anything. Not even starting a game.
And all of us knew, how "reliable" touch screen displays are.
And this special formatted will be very hard to find.

one thing i am also worried about :

"Purchase games or additional content"
In gamy buying ? Unlock rules with paypal?
Or buying updates?

Why does everyone want DR to fail?
All of these wasted talents like Barry, Denis or Chris.
Even if their games have dumb names like "Food Truck" or "TBD", we all know that there is enormous potential here.

I really hope, some of their work will see the light some day.

Again, i must say: what a waste of talend and lifetime, if this failes .
I really hope that the work of Barry, Denis and David will be "rescued" to another pinball company,
