Them teaming up with Jpop, knowing full well what a complete disaster he is and his worthless reputation, tells you all you need to know about these guys. so many red flags in your timeline as it is.

There's Magnasave in Magic Girl. Well, just "save" as the "magna" part wasn't installed. So, I guess, not even "save".

As you were.

All I can say is WOW.

This deep root guy (as a side note, why are all the names of new pinball companies so terrible?) comes off as completely insane. Which makes sense that he and John get on like gangbusters.

Bunch of threats, bravado and dick waving, but nothing of substance.

Zidware 2.0. Get those deposits ready!

Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

Don't forget Ferrari quality at the cost of a KIA.

No, the absolute best quote in that whole dumpster fire was "easy as pinball". Seriously, those are words that will go down in JPOP history as legendary.

Absolutely everything about this whole situation screams "run away".

Quoted from oohlou:

I don't know about you guys but I'm psyched for "the 5 days of deeproot"!!!!

"Sure. Why not?"

They designed our financial system.

Yeah, they are totally ready to design a real time embedded control system plus also design and code a pinball machine, which has the complexity of a AAA video game title with the added fun of supporting analog mechanical devices.

Totally the same.

I'm very surprised to hear of Barry Oursler and Dennis Nordman getting involved.

But I suspect this venture will be more like

Yeah, I thought that was Trudeau at first as well, but I don't think he can leave the state right now...

Quoted from unigroove:

Barry Oursler tweaked plenty of games for other designers at Williams and that is probably one of his strengths.

Yeah, apparently he worked best with others in terms of guys like Python being the idea man and Oursler making it work. Him being lead designer with JPop as the starry-eyed idea man might make for something worthwhile.

Still, JPop. There's no rehabbing that rep.

Quoted from Aurich:

I'm not sure how clear the details are on that, but it seems like it was Steve and/or Mark Ritchie maybe?

Larry DeMar stepped in, I'm told.

One thing you notice is, the quietest ones end up being the ones who deliver.

JJP, Stern, American Pinball and Spooky don't really trumpet much from on high, while Skit-B, Heighway and Zidware all had plenty to say. Deeproot seems more in that vein.

The whole thing just feels different than the other recent start-ups.

This time it’ll be different

He kept talking about revolutionary ideas and if there's one thing pinball people don't like, it's any real variation from the standard format. Hell, even putting the flippers in an alternative configuration puts people off.

It'll be interesting for sure.

Man, I know it's bad to take pleasure in the failure of others but this guy was such an asshole, putting down people, all confidence and bluster, and here we are, back in reality.

Quoted from frolic:

The burn rate money is new information and is shocking.

It's not shocking if it's money laundering. If anything it's low then.

#1935 11 months ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

If you are laundrying... you intend to get a percentage of your money THROUGH the system.. not just burn it on employees, taxes, and all other kinds of trackable expenses not going back to your network

Fake employees, fake invoices, etc.

Hey, I watched Ozarks, I know how it works!

Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

Had a chance to buy 10 CP playfields @$150 each a few years back and passed out of principle.

They were literally giving CP playfields away at Expo that year. Free. I had three of them and gave them away to friends.

Quoted from Drewscruis:just another fart in the wind.

Doesn’t this describe the entire Internet?

Anyway, none of this hot air will mean a thing if they actually deliver. The discussion is fun to watch in the meantime.

You can safely drain this thread and have zero FOMO because there will be 17 new threads if and when Deeproot actually does anything.
