I just searched the US patent website for pinball. Some of the stupidest things get approved. Remember John Carmack, the original creator of Doom and videogames who hated patents. Remember Elon who said his patents were free to use to continue electric car innovation. Some guy in Taiwan patented a two player pinball machine, even though I thought it was already invented long ago. (approved in 2021).

I didn't see the pinbar patent but I saw WO2021133990A1. Once again, a corrupt government system. If you can patent the idea of pressing a button on a touchscreen, then we need to take some people out back.

Just came across this too, by George Gomez. Not sure if this encapsulates all network online interfacing with a pinball machine (apps like Insider), but damn, our patent office is insane if this grants the ability to limit all other companies to hook up a pinball machine online. Will have to deep dive into that.

"there is always someone or some company there to salvage for pennies on the dollar."

Right, but usually it isn't someone from within the company. I mean it's possible he has zero ties, was merely an employee, zero bad intentions going forward, but there is still a string of connection there that writing it off as jr detectives is odd. It will always be speculation both ways. We got 1 more week to see what we are looking at and how much more cash to burn before releasing a product. If they try to license a big theme, then I'd be worried. So much headache and money going that way right out of the gate.

Look how big that warehouse is that he has already. The rent on that isn't cheap. See the dudes working in the background. Burning cash. Expect a game offering less than Stern pro for $10k+. Just seems he's diving in a little too fast.

"It’s a scam unless proven otherwise. Even if it wasn’t, it’s indirectly built off of a fraud that scammed retirees out of their money."

I've worked for companies joking if I had a ton of money I'd buy it out and fire the clueless owners. Speculation. Yea he has an uphill battle. 100% agree on the fraud. It's like seeing a financial collapse happening now, seeing someone lose their job and you buy their house for 1/4 the price to take advantage of the current market. Not a good look to be walking around holding what you got at others loss.

"certain CEOs boasting of their skill sets."

Co-founder, CEO, and Founder of 3 companies all at the same time...

I'm very suspicious and curious about what Turner claims he is patenting about a "Removeable Backbox". Does anyone else know of any prior game considered a removable backbox to conflict with this? By default any backbox can be removed, but I'm curious what exact invention you guys think he might be able to patent(?)

Quoted from ForceFlow:

literally decades of prior art

Yea, I'm just surprised to see the Jurassic park spinning newton ball on the truck get a patent granted, and I guess you just never know what will get through the patent office.

Quoted from RyanStl:

Does Stern or the other current manufacturers still bother?

Stern patents a ton of stuff, just google stern pinball patents.
