Quoted from deeproot:

Haha. Not stupid. If we don’t make Dec 31 and you have to pay up I’ll cover you Send me a bill.

Thank you for the write-up.

Actually Jeff and I had a great time playing RAZA and a few other games the other day. Can’t play games that haven’t been built, now can we? And no, I spend as little time as possible reading anything on this forum. Let alone taking it or anything posted seriously.

My Utah creatives are pretty amazing right?

We needed to make an announcement regarding Zidware. Only made sense to address launch expectations. Don’t worry, but for the drama around Jpopalicious I would have rathered that no one knew that deeproot had anything to do with pinball.

You mean like a GB that won’t turn on half the time, the two brand new premium Batman 66’s I bought that are already more dimpled than the moon and with broken mechs already, a Hobbit that’s been dead for months, a Dialed In with constant sound and rebooting problems, and a TNA with so many problems that it has kept my eningeers from engineering on deeproot stuff? Playing and maintaining a deeproot game is pretty refreshing for me thus far...
— Robert dT

What a tool! Have fun dicking around with JPOOP and not making games.

9 titles a year- LOL

Quoted from Makakka:

Tomorrow will be a milestone in the wait as there are only 3 nights to go. What a wait RAZA was. Any else on 21st is nothing more than s.p.e.c.u.l.a.t.i.o.n. Im not interested in any 80s theme besides Blade Runner from 82. Thats my guess.

I'll never forget where I was three nights before a another random, fruitless date from Deeproot.

#9928 3 years ago
Quoted from pinballwil:

If they accomplish only half they promised Deeproot wil take of 25 % from Stern and 50% from the rest of the other pinball company's. If the prices are right its shakes the whole pinball industry.

If they can actually produce and sell games- nothing they have ever done leads me to believe that.

ETA your numbers are arbitrary

Darn so no $3500 RAZAs and no 7 additional titles? Those both seemed so likely...

#11312 3 years ago
Quoted from Cheeks:

If there has been a weirder "upgrade" option on a pinball machine, I can't think of it.

This should have been the point JPOP was taken to the looney bin. I mean seriously WTF

#11319 3 years ago
Quoted from frolic:

I love Ben's version of the story of hearing that for the first time.

I remember reading it but if anyone has a link please post it. It was shockingly stupid.

#11954 3 years ago
Quoted from wrb1977:

Now that the complaining has seemed to cool down for the moment, is it possible that the assembly line is ready to go? If September 21st went off as planned, would deeproot be taking orders? Maybe it’s wishful thinking on my end, but maybe, just maybe, they are only making some final adjustments based on the feedback they received and we may see RAZA shipping by the end of the year. Maybe???

lol no

#12037 3 years ago
Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

Now that deep root’s innovations have been identified and listed, I spent some time considering them. Many are fine and a few are good ideas too. Taken together, most pinball players would agree the Pinbar (tm) adds much capability and value. Is that enough to make me want to buy one? Well if the low end model is priced @ $5.5k like a Stern pro and it has the above value included, I’d be interested in trying one of the pins. If it is priced like a Stern prem @ $7.5k, which it is probably worth, I am not interested, as I want a Ferrari for Kia pricing. So Robert Mueller gives us a premium at the price of a pro, then I’d have to act. If more features were added, I might be willing to pay more. What kinds of features you ask?
Pinscale (tm) - optional pad inside cabinet can be placed on the floor and when Player steps on it announces his weight. Can be adjusted to lock refridgerator when needed.
Pinpressure (tm) - optional arm cuff can be worn and Player’s blood pressure is announced. Can be adjusted to dial 411 at certain trigger levels.
Pinheart (tm) - optional chest band can be worn to periodically announce Player’s heart rate. Can be adjusted to cockblock all earned multiballs until Player has returned to their safe heart range.
Pindiabetes (tm) - Player can slam their hand down on corner of Pinbar (tm) to create a prick. Simply drain some blood on the Pinbar (tm) and it can be analyzed for blood sugar level. Immediately alerts Player if they need to eat a hotdog or ice cream sundae.
Pindating (tm) - optional profile can be created and a single status will actively shop that Player to 3.2 biillion women on earth.
Pinpuncher (tm) - optional boxing glove subassembly can be attached to the coin door and it will Punch Player in the nuts based on certain score level triggers or restarting a bad game.
Pinvacuum (tm) - optional air hose can be pulled from coin door and pump turned on to create a hand wand with major sucking action. Do you have something that needs to be cleaned? Well use the hose.

Keep that up sir and you will have a job at DR

Quoted from spinal:

Again goal is to build a successful company and not just the first game.

In order to have a successful company you have to actually make/sell the first game. I would say that's the exact goal.

Quoted from yancy:

Meanwhile it's 8 years after the Pinside "release" date for RAZA, and the latest headline is You Can Make The Ramp.

Multiple times- IN A ROW

#12682 3 years ago
Quoted from switch3:

So do you think Robert will start production of machines without the hammerproof clearcoat? Isn't this maybe the main reason nothing is being produced yet? Wasn't it said that the invited guests brought attention to the orange peel resembling clearcoat? deeproot realized it's not good enough yet. Will it ever be?When is Robert ready to abandon the hammerproof clearcoat idea?
They have been talking about the hammerproof non dimpling playfields for so long, but they still haven't worked out the formula. I'm absolutely no expert, but by the looks of it I don't think it's very likely they will invent the clearcoat formula any time soon, if they've been working on it for this long without succeeding. If it was easy, deeproot or someone else would have invented it already. What are they doing now? Watching the lab guy experiment on clearcoat formulas every day while the rest gather around and cross their fingers this time is gonna be it? How long can they wait?

The main reason nothing is being produced yet is bc DR does not have the ability to do so. If they could make pinball machines and sell them, they would have done so years ago.

Quoted from Lounge:

I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a ‘release’ quite yet. You’ve probably got a few more years.

Yeah the "available articles" relating to "release" are few and far between, so don't feel like you missed out on any info.

Quoted from ThePinballCo-op:

I wish deeproot had 50 RAZAs (25 of each model) boxed and ready to go. Send it out, show people you are serious, and let the feedback come in so the next set can be slightly improved.
I'd be more inclined to trust and purchase said games if I knew units were being made. I have more confidence in TBL reaching my door than I do RAZA right now.

Wish in one hand, sh*t in the other.

#14387 3 years ago
Quoted from Tomass:

I see what is going on now. They have taken all this time and spent millions on salaries and development costs to trick a couple hundred people into spending a few hundred bucks on a down payment so they can take that money and run. Those tricky bastards.

The people who think they are "scamming" are implying the investors money. It's not like they put up millions of their own money just to get 25 pre-orders, lol

#14482 3 years ago
Quoted from iceman44:

Yes you heard that right
It was a mistake. Water under the bridge.
Onward and upward. Release, sell and produce

The only produce at DR is salad fixins and I doubt they have much of that.

#14613 3 years ago
Quoted from mbwalker:

Yes - envisioning production is a lot of work.
I think you indirectly hit upon what RAZA is likely going to be: basically a homebrew, given the low production qty. And Mbecker is likely right...the eng staff will build them (all in the lab). Hence, why there's no production floor pictures or details. Almost like when Dutch starting building TBL again - 3 or 4 guys piecing together a pin.

Is 4 guys piecing together a few pins QUAD manufacturing?

The DR opinion hate sermons are getting longer lately. I suspect many are seeing that this Will happen soon and the soap box will soon be nothing but a memory. So much time in this thread assuming doom theory. Please ship the games so this saga can end..... lol

Quoted from QuickSilverShelby:

Every time I read this thread someone mentions Food Truck and I just laugh. There's gotta be at least 100 other better themes out there and this is gonna be their second big hit?
Good luck with that.
QSS

For me, this is the biggest red flag. They spend years on RAZA, close ordering almost immediately, and are supposedly going to make a only a few hundred games to get to their next title asap, Food Truck? It makes no sense.

Quoted from Scandell:

“A sewer” is one the many degrading terms I’ve heard Robert use regarding Pinsiders. And one of the more mild insults.

The blame placed on the "naysayers" by the people who pre-ordered and DR itself is laughable. If it wasn't for those big meanies on Pinside DR would be killing it!

#15968 3 years ago
Quoted from BC_Gambit:

Exactly; IF Deeproot was a scam it would be an even more incompetent scam than it is a pinball manufacturer. See the recent ASOA thread for a "less expensive" way to get a few hundred thousand from pinball enthusiasts.

I think if it's a scan, it's a great one. Bilk investors out of millions, sit around, lie, talk shit, and get a nice salary for a few years in the process.

Also there is a lot less risk involved in what DR is doing than just taking someone's money and not giving anything in return, ironically. Couple that with the Shut Up and Take My Money attitude of many collectors and I think we have a winner personally.

#15994 3 years ago
Quoted from pookycade:

47000 sq ft and no assembly line ??? Really ??? I guess when they need to build another machine they just take over their company conference room and wheel in the tool and parts cabinet. Or maybe they throw up a tent in the parking lot. Wow.

Certainly odd to brag about not having a line but hey it's DR so it's par for the course.

Quoted from pookycade:

Reality is building things is hard, Stern has economies of scale nobody else can remotely touch, and everyone thinking they can show Stern a thing or two (are you listening Deeproot ?) can’t actually show anything because they have no idea how to build anything and can’t scale to achieve pricing efficiencies.

Ding Ding Ding! The truth hurts. It's easy to stick your fingers in your ears, talk about how great your game will be when you get it, and ignore all the red flags in the world. OCTO(oh wait I mean) QUAD manufacturing! Assembly lines are the past! lol

Quoted from DakotaMike:

In all seriousness, does anyone have any inside info on what is, or isn't, happening at deeproot?

No inside info. But I can tell you what they aren't doing at Deeproot, which is the same thing they haven't been doing all along; building pinball machines. At this point it's obvious that DR is Zidware 2.0- a company that never had any intention of manufacturing games.

What remains unclear is why they took preorder money and how they wasted so much over the years. Oh yeah and how did people fall for the last minute customization of every game? lol imagine Stern stopping their line to call someone and ask which color rubbers they want. What if they don't answer their phone? Like literally everything top to bottom with DR, it makes zero sense and never has.

#22452 2 years ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

Maybe it still gets built, but you'd think based on when people left and joined deeproot based on linkedin's....they're going to have to go on another hiring spree to make it happen.
I think I guessed deliveries starting in September back in like January. I'm going to move that to Spring 2022 if anything comes out.

Wait, you think DR is actually going to manufacture and ship pinball machines? Whoa

#22578 2 years ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

I'm bearish on deeproot, but not as much as some others.
I don't think they'll make all the games, but I do think they'll fart out a few eventually. At the very least the couple of prototypes they built will end up somewhere.

It's crazy how long he's been making a career of not making pinball machines and pissing away people's money. And people somehow still think RAZA will be made. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

#22593 2 years ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

I didn't say they'd build all of them.
But so far he's made huge strides in that RAZA appears to be a fully playable and coded game.

I didn't mean to requote your post nor call you out, my bad.

#22662 2 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Ok I'm throwing it out there:
If someone can successfully bring Food Truck to market, I'm a buyer.
In fact, if someone can simply successfully make a convincing web page soliciting a non-refundable deposit, I'm sending you money!
Let's do this!

Quoted from Inside:

The important thing to remember is that right now Robert & deeproot are not guilty of any crime. In the court of Pinside Public Opinion certain conclusions have already been reached, but he is as of right now still doing everything legally. As far as we know his funds haven't been frozen, etc, so he & his companies are free to use any money they have on hand to defend themselves.

Right now yes, but not for long

#24541 2 years ago
Quoted from greatwichjohn:

Yes JPOP can still be managed, & will likely move on to more pinball work. He should be a freelance pinball dreamer, & designer. But that is all, he needs a team to get games built.
People know what you need to have production to actually get games out the door. Have good relations with parts vendors, & contractors that do the bulk of a real build. That was the problem with Deeproot, no production in place & piss off most in that parts side of the business. The first thing you would do from day one is find a local cabinet or woodworking shop to build your cabinets & do your playfield manufacturing. Pay your vendors & staff properly!

You somehow seem to forget time and time again that JPOP already screwed the entire hobby over. Nobody wants anything to do with him. There are no opportunities for "good relations" once you hire a hack like him. How dense are you?

#25017 2 years ago
Quoted from blueberryjohnson:

I have no passional connection to anything zidware or deeproot. I just don't like 1) self-promoting loudmouths who talk shit about everyone else, 2) and particularly those who utterly (and comically) fail to back it up.

The two entrance ramps that feed the ball to the other side instead of an inlane or different flipper is super LOL just like everything else DR. And the upper "playfield" that only has rubber posts was shitty back on Al's Garage Band thirty years ago and truly embarrassing today. It's unbelievable how far RMs head was up his ass dear lord

Once again, please stop. There is NOTHING of value here.

#27283 2 years ago
Quoted from Tranquilize:

The only thing of value is the functioning prototype with the pinbar. Some collector will pay 35-50k at auction for that sucker. That's it. The lawyers will get the proceeds. GAME OVER.

Quoted from NashtyFunk:

I'm still here if anyone wants to ridicule me. Doesn't really bother me. I wanted a neat looking pinball machine so I bought one. Got my money back and all it cost me was time and headaches. The people who should be getting dragged are the criminals and negligent individuals who screwed over a bunch of retirees, employees, hobbyists, etc.

Negligent is a bit of the pot calling the kettle black, no?

Quoted from Tranquilize:

I think there's a good chance he sees prison.
Two things we know for certain about Robert: he's an idiot and he has the ego to match. He likely has ZERO connections in the legal and/or business world that would help him. Unless there are connections and/or a shitload of cash, the courts don't mind putting fiduciary criminals away.
When he goes, I hope Greg and Zach can make the trip to interview him from his cell!

This made me feel warm and fuzzy all over. Like you said, I'm sure he has no insiders to help him or way out of this mess he created for himself. People like RM should go to jail.

Uhhh can you just “unwant” something you bid on?

Right?

Maybe deeproots failure permeated the building so hard that it affected the auction house too and they forgot how it is supposed to work.

Quoted from catwoman:

I got this in the deeproot auction. It would be a lovely addition to a game room (or I think somebody may have mentioned shitter before), but I don’t think I have a proper space in my home. It is very heavy (40 pounds?) and therefore would be expensive to ship, but I figure somebody may be willing. Please PM me if you would be interested in buying it.
It measures 16 inches wide, 9 inches tall, and 2.25 inches deep. It’s actually pretty cool.

I would think RAZA is a dead idea. But the way things continue to evolve who knows. The pinbar, lifting glass, pinpod, & all the other idiotic ideas have likely died. Where is JPOP, & what is he up to is another unknown. Likely to resurface to drive people crazy.

I thought he was exploring other avenues in the entertainment industry.

Kim is a great guy. Be happy to share a few beers with him. This has nothing to do with Deeproot, but all the crap towards me drinking piss & not beer reminds me of the local Trailer Park Boys. This location I visited a number of times & was used for various other films. I knew it well, & some of my pinball friends know the actors. I got to see the trailers, & this truck cab on numerous times over the years.

I do love that show. Season 3 is my favorite.
